For the serious car nuts out there one of the most fun things to be a part of is a car meet with fellow make, model or vehicle-type enthusiasts, that is, unless a fellow participant decides to wreck and take a dozen of his fellow friends along with him.
Unfortunately for one group of foreign exotic car owners traveling from Hiroshima to Kyushu, Japan, that is exactly what happened when the driver of a Ferrari lost control while passing on the freeway, losing control and taking out 13 exotics and one Toyota Prius, according to a Jalopnik consolidated report from various Japanese outlets.

Because of the recent nature of the accident, details are still a bit scarce, but it appears that the incident involved a wet and curvy portion of the road, an overtaking maneuver – and presumably – some excess speed. Considering how many vehicles became tangled in the mess, it likely wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume the group, which consisted of eight Ferraris, one Lamborghini, three Mercedes-Benz AMG models, a Skyline and a hardly-worth-mentioning Toyota Prius, was traveling in close proximity and at a decent clip, which in turn limited their ability to react and avoid the pileup.
But again, at this point it is only conjecture given the lack of details made available to the public.
As for the damage, as the video shows it is disturbingly extensive – at least on the Ferraris shown. A close inspection shows several severely broken wheels, an indication of immense force. Amazingly, no one was killed or even severely injured – possibly proving that more modern exotic cars have as much effort into occupant safety as vehicle performance.
Cleanup crews needed a full six hours to clean up the mess, providing plenty of time for passer-byes to see the carnage first hand.
