i knwo this is about cars and power etc but i must add to the debat about the cost of fuel.

In the UK its over $ 10 a gallon - now you now why we dont drive hummers or a Saleen S281 in the uk, we would be more than happy to pay " two pounds fifty pence" ( 5 dollers) for a gallon of fuel, and under $45000 for a base es 3 series, but its a sad fact but youll never see the doller or sub 3 dollar a gallon again - fuel efficient cars are the only most normal working folk can save hard earned cash, its why 50% of company cars in the uk are diesel, I remembr a few years ago a taxi driver in san franciso laughing when i said the taxi's in the uk are mostly 2 ltr diesels, he couldnt get his head round it

Enjoy the cheap fuel whilst you still can..............................

It's funny how when speculation is in OUR favor (demand is down), they compensate by slowing production to get demand back up. We just can't win. But, we could catch one of them out in their yacht and pillage them like a bunch of pirates.

They raise gas prices because they're a bunch of greedy @$$'s. U.S demand is down, haven't you noticed whenever we start figuring out what they're doing they come up with another generic excuse, like India's growing or China's growing. Yeah, they grew so fast in 3 weeks that gas went up .50 cents a gallon. They get us thinking gas will go to a certain price, we start believing it, so since they know we think it's possible, they make it happen, and since we thought it would happen there isn't a suprise. Sounds screwed up doesn't it?

i'd like to know why pay increase in the ENTIRE workforce hasn't risen, gas is up which causes everything else we buy to rise as well, except were are earning as much to pay for this such as food or gas- if gas is rising so much along with everything else, when do we see an increase in our pay rates to compensate?

'horsey', I don't think you should be making $14/hour. It should be a bit higher ... unfortunately for you, that job should be paying $5/hour in China. That's not being an asshole, that's just FACT.

It's getting so bad that Al Gore is actually trying to find ways to reduce his energy consumption from 30 times what the average household uses down to 28 times.

I seems like they're trying to drive us crazy with this shit. One day it's up 2cents, the other it's down 2cents. Really, at this point, I don't give a shit. And if it gets to a point where I can't afford to put gas in my car then I'll worry. The financing company can expect to not get any more payments either.

What's funny is the view by some that CAFE is bad when at the same time gas prices continue to rise. Time to adapt fuckwads.

And for those of us living in Canada, stop complaining ... imagine what prices would be if our dollar wasn't on par with the US? And don't forget that higher prices will be mitigated by a continuing improvement in the Cdn dollar ... remember this, it will hit $1.15/US dollar soon. I will remind you all. As I called par over a year ago, as I called for $100 oil over a year ago, as I called $4/gallon over a year ago.

I should add, if you're planning on buying a new vehicle in Canada this year, hold off until our dollar hits $1.10 to $1.15 and buy in the States.

Now with China driving up demand we're all fucked. This is the end of the SUV/truck era, get ready for some lean years. I make more than enough money to drive a gas guzzler around, but filling up the Wrangler for $100 and getting 300 km (under 200 miles) in the city is fucking horrific.

And ditto Johnnycanuck, we're getting raped up here.

lets see oil companies have set record after record for profit and sales...and yet the US Gov. has found ways to give the oil companies tax breaks on imports. We have plenty of oil in our own country, but yet we are in bed with the oil companies of the middle east, this completley paralyzes us, we are puppets to the oil.

I like it that gas is getting so expensive for alot of people. I truly hope it hits $5 very soon, and it will by next year. I laugh at those pretentious snobs driving their oversized heavy and tacky escalades and navigators spending almost $100 on a fill up. I love that my WRX wagon with a bit over 400hp only costs me $45 to fill up, and its faster than any escalade or navigator, has better fuel economy, and is a more capable off roader than those giant wannabe trucks.

My wife and I just got back from a 3 day weekend in the British Columbia interior last night. The prices ranged from $1.189 to $1.289 per Cdn litre. That works out to between $4.50 and $4.88 per US gallon in Cdn dollars. And that's for the dishwater; premium puts you way, way over 5 bucks.

So think twice before you come up North this summer. The price ALWAYS goes up here, and it doesn't look like the exchange rate is going to be much of a factor either.

It'll be a combination of an "unplanned" refinery fire or two and "planned" shutdowns of many major piplines for inspection and cleaning which should coincide well with Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day, which of course even though they were "planned" no accomodations are made for contingency supplies to fill the void and ease the pain. Fekkin gas-holes.

I just paid 3.959 for ultra for my motorcycle last night. Regular is 3.669. Diesel here is 4.659. I don't think we have seen the worst of this yet. The famous "summer driving season" is yet to hit and that is the excuse the oil companies use every year to push the price up a couple of cents. That and "planned maintenance" at a refinery or two.

Euros look at the US like we are crazy when we complain about our prices. But this level of inflation is just a dangerous indication of what to expect when China or powers of Middle east, start to dictate policy.

Like $3 a gallon wasn't enough they have to jack it up to $3.50. What a rip off. It's so obvious they raise the price on speculation but when the speculation is in our favor they shut their facilities down until demand goes back up. These oil company CEO's need to be dragged into the street and have their @$$'s beat down by the American public.
