Avis Rent A Car System, LLC, is adding a fleet of 500 Nissan Altima Hybrids to its “Cool Cars” lineup, which already includes such vehicles as the Toyota Prius, Cadillac CTS, Hummer H3 and Chrysler Crossfire.
Earlier this summer, Avis added 1,000 Prius hybrids to its new “Cool Cars” lineup, a similar system to Hertz’s successful “Fun Collection,” which also includes the Prius and H3.
The Altima hybrid will only be available in California, at least initially. By the end of the year, Avis will offer the Prius in California, Portland, Ore., Seattle, Washington, D.C., Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New York City and Philadelphia.

if you are renting a car, who cares what you are driving?

Well this is an interesting tidbit. So hybrids are basically looked at as novelties?? Too funny. Gives you some insight into the thoughts and strategies of auto companies. These cars are gimmicks.

Both of you care what you drive when your renting, otherwise you’d be renting Aveos.

Nope, really don’t care what I’m renting. The last time I rented a car it was a Nissan Sentra…base model.

and someone said this before, the Prius looks like a dustbuster from the 1980’s…and they both run on batteries!

Given the choice between this or some anonymous GM product, at least you’ll save on gas while driving around town.

I don’t see what’s bad about that. Better gas mileage = less gas consumed = less money spent on gas out of MY pocket. As long as there is not a “cool car premium,” I’d rent one.
