If it does happen, I’ll for sure buy one. It better have a Burmester soundsystem of some sort in it.

Thing is hope they actually make it a straight-six twin turbo or a W8, rather then a staight-four turbo, true will add weight to the car.

If it does do 0 – 100 km/h in the 4 second range it will do a nice number on alot of other coupes other then the Porsche Cayman S / Porsche Boxster / BMW Z4M.

dude, the Phaeton failed because no one wants to buy a 5 figure VW. If it were an Audi it would have been terrible for BMW and MB because that would have sold well as the VW luxury brand is Audi.

If Bugatti makes all these spin-off cars look the same to the original, the real Veyron is never going to sell. If people can’t differentiate the big bucks from the still expensive yet more affordable cars, then buyers for the $1.3 million car would just buy the cheaper models and buy other cars as well. Yet, this makes one wonder if the $1.3 million dollar car is more of a marketiing stunt to inflate a prestige in a brand rather than a serious very-low production car that will be made over the course of several years.

As Pete said in comment #4, I think that the combination of such an exclusive name, mixed with affordability will thow this car’s sales through the roof.

Additionally, the Veyron is said to handle about as well as a Elise, so I have no doubt that Bugatti engineers will make this one do the same, making it very agile, and even more competitive.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bugatti also introduced a slightly higher-priced model with a more-powerful V6 engine, and other engine types, especially a V12 or V10.

Bugatti has stirred huge amounts of the spotlight with the Veyron, and introducing a more affordable model from the same company will give customers a sence of connection through Brand Recognition.

To shorten this, here is a hypothetical quote:

“Who care’s if it didn’t cost a lot? It’s a Bugatti, and they made the Veyron!”

All they have to do is let this new model share the spotlight with the Veyron. That will start the snowball success-popularity effect, and spur sales.

Just don’t price it over 60 Grand (US). Four cylinder cars can only sell for so much.

The VW marketing guys are stupid if they didn’t learn from their mistake that was the Phaeton and now this? I think the logical second model would be a superfast 4 door sedan and name it the new Atlantic. You have the fastest coupe there with the Veyron. Might as well stretch the platform a bit and produce the fastest sedan.

Why on earth are you guys being so negative about this? Dont you realize that this is great news? You can buy a freaking Bugatti with some ridiculous performance (and i’m sure luxury) stats going for it. And really, can we get over the badge engineering talk everytime there’s a story on here about a new model from a company that owns more than one brand? There isn’t ANY indication at all whatsoever that this is going to be based on the “golf” or “boxter” platforms as mentioned above. This is Bugatti we’re talking about here. You’re all correct in thinking “why would they dilute the brand?” The answer is: they wouldn’t! A 4-cylindered extreme-luxury [relatively] extreme-performance car in the $100,000 range is a pretty awesome idea, and it doesn’t dilute the brand at all. What, do you want all their cars to cost over a million dollars? Not me. I WANT one.

In theory, it sounds more like a competitor to the Lotus Elise/Exige with a greater emphasis on power to weight ratio. If the devil is in the detail, then the profit is in the niche market. Exclusive name coupled with “attainable” price sounds like a recipe for high-margin sales.

im really not sure about this, why would VW bother spending so much on the establishment of Bugatti as the “ultimate car” when after the Veyron it releases a car in direct competition with something like the RS4?!
