Cadillac has released a “behind the scenes” style video detailing the development of its upcoming BMW 3-Series rival, the ATS.
The two-minute video features interviews with several engineers and executives, including GM North America President Mark Reuss, who test-drives a pre-production development version of the car. The video promises that the new car will be “outstanding from a dynamic and performance standpoint,” and will let Cadillac carve out a “special niche” in the compact premium segment.
The small Cadillac will begin production next summer at the Lansing Grand River plant, the same Michigan assembly plant that builds the Cadillac CTS, which is predicted to grow in its next generation to make room for the ATS at the bottom of Cadillac’s model range. The Michigan plant received a $190 million investment and will employ 600 new workers to make the new model.
