Bentley recalls 13,420 vehicles

06/03/2008, 6:06 PM

By Drew Johnson

Bentley is widely regarded as one of the finest automakers on the planet, but today’s news reminds us once again that nobody’s perfect. The now Volkswagen-owned automaker from Crewe has announced the recall of 13,420 vehicles.

The recall is due to a faulty fuel filter. Bentley discovered that road salt can corrode the filter’s surface, which could ultimately lead to a fuel leak and the possibility of a fire.

The recall affects all Bentley Continental GT, Continental GT Speed, Continental Flying Spur, and Continental GTC vehicles built between 2004 and 2008.

Bentley’s last recall was about a year ago for faulty wheel bolts used on the Arnage sedan.

Ahhhhh, just as I was getting my checkbook out this happens! Guess I’ll have to settle with a Toyota since Toyota hides all their recall problems…

I’m waiting for VW/Audi philosophy to creep into Bentley production. Hey, how about a FWD turbocharged four-cylinder Bentley?

All VWs are garbage, from Skoda to Bentley.

Good thing, because I am pretty sure 99 percent of owners use their Bentleys as their dedicated winter vehicle.

I concur, it is WV/Audi fault. Does anyone remember Rolls recall? I don’t.

Wait, I disagree with remark about Skoda. I read that they are good and there are a lot of Skoda taxis in poorer countries of Europe (Spain, Greece). Taxi meant to have reliability of mule (I never drove a mule, horses are ****ing unreliable and tend to kick and byte).

Bently being “regarded as one of the finest automakers on the planet” doesn’t necessarily translate to them being the most reliable and trouble free. I would agree that their level of craftsmanship (old school hands on building) is above and beyond. But I don’t recall them being the most reliable cars on earth. To boot, their parts are ridiculously expensive to change. I suppose owners won’t have to worry about price, but still.

mayer_ray_nagin what are you smoking, Bentley is a great luxury vehicle, Audi is pretty good, Skoda is becoming popular.

I have ridden a lot of horses, never been kicked or bitten by one.

That’s why Bentley will never be RR: Bentley recalls, RR sends engineers to fix your car ;)
Having such a small but potentially life-threatening defect in a car that is supposed to be “over-engineered” will not help the car’s image.

autonut, I live in such a country and this is true… but skodas are so simple and cheaply made… there is almost nothing that can go wrong. they look more stripped than a 80s bmw but with older technology LOL

Does this include all the people with Chrysler 300s who put a big chrome grill on their car and clear out the headlights, trying to fool people into thinking they have a Bentley?
