Thanks to strong sales of its new Continental GT model, Bentley is off to its hottest start since 2008. During the first half of the year Bentley sold 2,978 cars, representing a 20 percent increase over the same period a year earlier.
Bentley’s sales increase was spurred by strong demand in China, the United States and Europe. Bentley’s China sales increased 57 percent to 680 cars during the period, making it the automaker’s fastest growing market.
European sales surged 25 percent to 494 vehicles while North American sales increased 23 percent to 907 cars. Bentley’s home market, the UK, advanced 6 percent to 533 units.
Bentley’s Asian-Pacific sales remain slow as the result of Japan’s March 11 earthquake and Middle East sales were hurt by political unrest. Still, the company’s 20 percent sales increases marks Bentley’s best six-month start since 2008.
“Interest in our product range is increasing and with our largest markets achieving significant growth we are on track to meet our targets for the full year,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, Bentley’s Chief Executive.
Bentley’s sales increased 11 percent last year.
