Not everyone agreed with President Obama’s decision to oust Rick Wagoner as General Motors CEO, but Ford Chairman Bill Ford Jr. admits he was flat out “shocked” by the move. Wagoner was asked to step down by the President after eight years on the job on March 29th.
Ford revealed his feelings on a recent episode of Larry King Live on CNN. “I guess I never thought I’d live to see the day where the CEO of General Motors was dismissed by the president of the United States. That to me was quite a moment. I was shocked by the way it happened,” Ford said.

Although Ford admits he was shocked by the move, Ford didn’t pass judgment on President Obama’s decision. If fact, Ford was quite supportive of the President’s efforts to keep the U.S. auto industry alive and well, praising President Obama for “paying attention to us, he wants a viable American car industry and he is listening.”

Ford is the only of the Big Three not to accept federal funding and vows to keep going – despite collapsing U.S. sales – without any bailout money.
