Rapper Birdman Tweeted earlier this year that he had come to terms with a European entrepreneur over the purchase of the one-off Maybach Exelero coupe, but the record mogul has reportedly yet to pay the bill for the car.
As a quick history lesson, the Maybach Exelero Coupe is a one-off test vehicle commissioned by the Fulda Reifenwerke tire company. Maybach designed the vehicle for Fulda, but the actual build was handled by Stola in Turin, Italy.
The Exelero features a twin-turbocharged V12, cranking out 700 horsepower and 753 lb-ft of torque. Despite its heft, the Exelero can accelerate from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 218mph.
Needless to say, that kind of performance combined with outrageous looks and the utmost exclusivity makes the Exelero the perfect target for a multi-millionaire like Birdman, but apparently its $8 million price tag might just be out of reach. Arnaud Massartic, the current owner of the car, says Birdman has yet to fork over the cash for the custom ride.
Birdman maintains the Exelero will be in his possession by December, but the Cash Money Records co-founder apparently has a long history of not paying for vehicles in full.
“I’ve sold him 30-40 cars over the past 8-10 years and he’s never had a problem paying his bills,†luxury car dealer Marc Stromvig told Forbes. “Are there notes on some of his cars? Sure. But there’s probably a note on your car, too.â€
Still, Birdman wouldn’t have a hard time paying for a standard Maybach as the rapper’s net worth is estimated at about $100 million.
