Members of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) have voted BMW ’s all-new 3-Series as their ultimate driving machine. The compact executive sedan was crowned 2005 Scottish Car of the Year in front of more than 200 motor industry representatives at the prestigious St Andrews Bay resort on Friday, October 21. Now in its eighth year, the SCotY awards recognise the achievements of more than 50 new models launched in the past 12 months. Cars are judged across seven categories on a criteria which includes; performance, value for money, safety and Scots appeal. Previous winners include the original Ford Focus, Jaguar X- and S-TYPE models plus the Mazda 6 – all of which have gone on to enjoy spectacular sales success in the Scottish marketplace.
