Spied: BMW 6-Series facelift

A mild facelift is in the works for BMW’s 6-series, as photographed here in lightly-disguised form on the streets of Munich. A new front air-dam repositions the fog lamps — which are now placed within the center air-intake–and the nose gets a little more definition thanks to a more pointed chin spoiler.

The rear bumper gets similar tweaks, with redesigned reflectors and revised back-up lights.

The new 6-er’s head- and taillights have also been redesigned. The black paint on the headlamps likely hides some new internal lighting elements, and the taillights have three gill-like protrusions sculpted into the outer lens, adding a little visual interest.

The styling changes represent a typically cautious mid-cycle facelift for BMW, which has been known to remain dedicated to even their most controversial designs.

You ever think that if they just didn’t camoflauge it, nobody would even notice it’s different?

Seriously, BMW needs to stop “facelifting” all BWMs. Either make it noticable different from the first year style or don’t bother changing it till the next major redesign! Example-> new 5 series. I can’t even tell!!

Oh, come on, they covered the taillights?? Its obvious that its the same design. BMW is lame! Otherwise, cool company.

One of BMW’s more “interesting” models. It reminds me a great deal of the BMW 8 series…more of a niche model.

PrimeGTP: I totally disagree, BMW has a relatively normal sized model lineup for a luxury car manufacturer. They have all the normal parts in place, small, mid, and fullsize luxury/sport sedans in the form of the 3, 5, and 7-Series, they have the small and large SUV’s in the form of the X3 and X5, they have the luxury coupe in the form of the 6-Series, and lastly the requisite roadster/sports car in the form of the Z4. Now if that’s “500 models”, then I’m not sure what on earth you’re talking about. Like A4 said, if BMW has 500, Mercedes has 1000, if any luxury car company should be critiqued for too many models, try Mercedes.

And in each “series” is about 20 asinine sub-models that were apparently created with a random number generator. And believe me, I have the same problem with Mercedes.

The front looks droopy, and the rear end is easily one of the ugliest around.

Watch out for Audi as well….lately it seems like they’re in a rush to have as many models as Mercedes and BMW.

S-60-driver: I’m not sure why you are singling out BMW, most every manufacturer does these “mild facelifts” on their cars mid run. IMO this the ugliest car that has ever been released by BMW and needs all the face lifts it can get.

an ugly overweight pig. not even the V10 can save it. the 6 series looks like a 7 series that got beat up with a punched in trunk lid and drooping headlights.

This is totally whipped by the fabulous Jaguar XK. The facelift is identical to the old one, reflecting on my post about the Porsche Cayman. Why don’t they redisign it properly and give us a chance to compare with the old version. Even so, apart from the total lack of effort from BMW’s design team, the car is hideous anyway. I wouldn’t mind if the car looked great before the replacement, but to replace a hideous car with a identically hideous car is an epic lack of taste and imagination.
JAGUAR XK RULES!!
