BMW begins deliveries of 335i sedan

09/13/2006, 11:08 PM

By admin

BMW hasn’t even officially announced it, but the German automaker is already producing the new 3-Series 335i sedan. Photos of production-spec 335 sedans first turned up this summer from dealer previews. Now, an member of the E90Post chat forums reports taking delivery of a white 335i sedan. The individual is a U.S. military member in Germany. The car he received is the U.S. edition. [Thanks to Stanley T for the tip!]. Photos after the jump…

This car blows away the older E39 540i 6-Speed. That car was about the same size inside and $18,000 more expensive.

/great car.
//fantastic speed all over the tach.
/// feels like a lot more than 300bhp-300lb/ft

Next thing they need to do is have 335Xi by the end of 2007, and I am getting one :) . I love the fact that finaly BMW has some good HP numbers to show, I feel that their cars cost too much considering the offers of other companies in the same price range.

Audi might even be worst that that, I recently configured an A4 Avant 6sp manual with leather, premium, s-line and titanium package, it was over $40k with a 4 banger!!

Renton, how do you know how it feels?? Did you have a chance to drive one yet with that engine?

540i 6 sp was about $54-55k, this car is going to be right around $40k, so that’s more like $15k in savings, but I do agree, this should blow away the 540i.

audi’s with the s-line package use an upgraded engine. in the A4’s case a 3.2L 250HP V6. so no its not a 4 banger.

but audi is still one of the worst when it comes to that stuff. their base A4 still has a turbo 4 unlike the rest of the ppl

Uh why do these images look like a 330? Are the images of the 335 at bmwusa.com of a prototype or something?

What’s the advantage of the 335i if it costs thousands more than the 330i that is already “the best car in its class?”

I drove a 335i Coupe in a 6-speed and one in automatic. Tough choice. The car is a rocketship with either drivetrain. It is quite diferent than the E46 M3. It builds speed differently, more like thrust. The cabin is quieter and expensive feeling. Much more GT to the M3’s roadracer. The car has more than enough muscle to feel very happy with the autobox. It pulls like a V8.

I imagine the feel of the motor would be similar in the sedan.

truong, you are wrong on that one. S-line package is an option for either 2.0t or 3.1 V6. Just make sure you choose the right color because it is not available on all finishes. If you want to see for your self, go to audiusa.com, choose A4 2.0t with quatro and 6 sp manual, choose red color with leather, and on the next window, choose premium package, S-Line package becomes an option.

There’s a 335i in my parking garage. They’re definitely out, and not just to GI Joe in the article up there.

But it’s the best turbo out there. Great gas mileage, good enough power. Plus, in countries where a 1 liter difference in engine size means 35% increase in vehicle price, it’s a blessing.

Nothing wrong with Audi’s 4 bangers except for bang for the buck. 200hp for $30k is not quite doing it any more. For the same (or similar) price you can have G35 with awd, and now it has more than 300hp, and interior is just as nice.

Right and where do you live? BMW stated there aren’t any 335i sedans in customer’s hands in the US. If it’s in your garage and it’s US post some pics :)

I predict a flood of old Supras hitting the market as their owners dump them in favor of the new hotness. Boost + BMW = Crazy delicious!

I like it. Nothing a set of aftermarket wheels can’t cure.

MUSASHI66, yea but gas mileage is a lot worse on that G35. Plus the addition of the “European prestige” that some people crave and some little details lilke more comfortable seats.
