BMW doubles Australian M3 Coupe sales through first six months

The all-new E92 BMW M3 Coupe may have just recently hit the U.S. market, but that car has actually been on the Australian market for six months now. And, according to the initial sales report, the new car is twice as popular as the previous generation E46 M3 Coupe in the land of Oz.

BMW has announced that it has sold 263 M3 Coupes during the first six months the car has been on the market in Australia, compared to just 132 examples of the E46 M3 Coupe during its first six months on the market.

The success of the new car is no doubt linked to its high-revving 4.0L V8, which outguns the previous generation car’s 3.2L inline-six.

“We have been blown away by the level of passion and excitement our customers have expressed for the new M3 Coupe,” said Tom Noble, BMW General Manager, Marketing.

With cars like the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon running around the roads of Australia, it’s no wonder Australians have fallen in love with the V8-powered M3 Coupe.

There are far too many BMW 3-Series on the roads of Sydney, most of which are 320i sedans and 335i Coupes…and now M3s?

No wonder I’ve noticed a lot more new M3s on the road…

I’m seriously contemplating a holiday in Australia and just renting a different car everyday.

You’ll hear a scream when I’m banging 1115’s mom in the backseat of this baby.

Great car BMW. However, I’d have a really hard time at this price range, not adding $10K more to my budget and buying a 911.

If I’m not mistaken they are very strict when it comes to speeding in AUS… if that’s true this car is rather useless there.

I like Australia, people buy real cars there, not underpowered econoboxes that “save the enviroment’…

Johnnycanuck,I could do better than that, but they don’t offer a 4 door version so I couldn’t fit 1115’s sister in also.

Definitely a nice car. It’s #2 on my future purchase list, behind a 2010 Cadillac CTS-V. I just wish the M3’s interior was nicer - it’s borderline cheap looking.
