While BMW likely would rather not highlight the connections between itself and ultra-luxury brand Rolls-Royce which it owns, a shared and faulty component that poses a fire hazard is going to make that a bit difficult.
Leftlane reported just a few days ago that BMW was recalling over 32,000 various 5-Series, 7-Series, X5 and X6 models with a shared control board that could cause an engine fire, but now that recall has been expanded to include the Rolls-Royce Ghost as well due to its shared turbocharged V12 engine.
For Rolls-Royce, the recall only affects 589 2010 model year vehicles built between September 2009 and the same month in 2010.
Rolls-Royce will of course make the necessary repairs on all of the affected models free of charge starting later this month.
