The wife and I went to the mall Friday night and had a chance to check it out. While I agree that the hype has been excessive, the device does live up to it. It’s sleek and very intuitive to use. I’ve been wanting to replace both my 2G iPod and my cell phone , so for me at least the iPhone makes perfect sense. On specs alone it blows away the competition and while I was at first skeptical about how it would all come together I am more than satisfied at the end result. I realize there are a lot of Apple haters out there, but you have to give them some credit. This is their first try in this market and of course subsequent versions will be better. But for a first try it’s pretty damn good. I’ve already convinced my boss to pony up half and payday is this Friday

Exactly, Deanster. Full integration would mean using iPhone’s Safari to surf the web with iDrive (while in Park or Neutral with the E-Brake on of course), which would be damn near impossible, and besides, why not just use the phone anyway?

I think Bluetooth is enough for integration. Not everyone wants expensive hardware to accomodate an i-phone.

I would tend to agree though. The hype behind the Camaro or Challenger is nothing compared to this iPhone. But that’s modern marketing/media. They’ll beat ya over the head with news and information until you submit. It’s difficult for me to believe that hordes of people will be standing in line for a $600 phone. Of course, following the iPhone hysteria news is an article about how there is no more middle class. Maybe the middle class makes bad financial decisions…

This iPhone mania is total xxxxx bs. IT’s the xxxxxx media, not the people. The media incessantly prints stories hyping it up. I bet Apple blew a mint paying off every news outlet and tech site on the web.

I am surrounded by young tech-savvy people at work, in their late-20’s or early-30’s with tons of disposable income to burn. Not ONE SINGLE xxxxxx person has mentioned they’re interested in the iPhone. Not ONE.
