The biggest differences between the Lime Rock Park Edition and a standard M3 are all aesthetic. Developed in collaboration with Skip Barber, the owner of the famed Lime Rock Park in Connecticut, the limited edition M3 is only available in Fire Orange and with BMW's carbon fiber composite roof panel.
The exclusive treatment continues on the inside where the front seats are upholstered in a combination of Anthracite and black cloth. A track-inspired steering wheel with a flat bottom comes standard and each example will come with a numbered plaque mounted on the center console.
Under the hood the Lime Rock Park Edition is identical to the regular-production M3, meaning that it is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine that sends 414 horsepower to the rear wheels. Unlike the regular M3 the Lime Rock Park Edition is fitted with a lightweight titanium muffler.
Lime Rock Park Edition buyers will be asked to choose whether they want the V8 bolted to a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch unit developed by BMW's M division.
The 2013 BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition carries a base price of $70,995 including a destination charge of $895. For the sake of comparison, a standard M3 Coupe starts at $60,100 without the destination charge.
The Lime Rock Park Edition will undoubtedly be one of the very last U.S.-bound limited-edition E92 M3s before the next-generation bows.
