Spied: 2010 BMW M3 Sedan facelift

06/11/2008, 10:11 AM

By Nick Aziz

It wasn’t long ago that BMW launched its four-door M3, but with the 3-Series Sedan facelift right around the corner, the high-performance variant will also receive a small update. Most notable is the change to the rear taillights, which will take on a ‘notched’ appearance.

The 2010 model is likely to arrive within the next six to twelve months. The sedan will likely receive a quiet rollout, without any major changes. The car will certainly continue to be powered by BMW’s new 420-horsepower lightweight V8, mated to a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch unit.

As previously noted, changes to the regular 3-Series sedan will be more noticeable. While the M3 Sedan has the same front end design as its coupe counterpart — and therefore will not be changed — the 3-Series Sedan has its own look, which is being updated for 2010 along with the rear.

why do they STILL put black tape over the logo of the car? we know it’s a BMW, we know the shape, design, looks whatever- what is the purpose of putting that tape? seriously

This pathetically boring looking vehicle needs more than a facelift.

I think they took to much masking tape from the store room when they camouflaged the rear lights and decided not to throw it away :P
Anyway, from the looks of it, it’s more a “rearlift” than a facelift…

If they’re smart, they’ll throw the current sedan’s taillamps in the garbage and start over. They really look bad. I don’t know why they don’t just use the coupe’s taillamps which look fine.

It is really sad that BMW went to Audi for inspiration. That schnooze is just like Audi’s but with kidney grill instead off 4 rings. And pathetic headlights.

I’m sorry you guys all feel that way, but I think this is one of the sweetest cars ever produced. And the notched taillights are a welcome revival. I’m pumped.

Z06 – They ARE throwing the current sedan’s taillights out and re-designing them…

I don’t know about the 4-door but a guy in my neighborhood has a new M3 coupe. After having seen it driving around in person, I can tell you in all honesty……….the coupe has no presence at all IMO it just looked like a bloated 3 series. To make matters worse it’s white so that doesn’t help it case.

The previous generation was MUCH better looking.

I like the rear of the 3 series coupe/M3. My problem with the M3 is the front, it’s too low in the front compared to the back. It kinda droops in the front making it look disproportional.

These coupes and sedans look like ****.

‘Mayer’ nailed it … why does this car look like a $15k Hyundai or Kia?

Doesn’t look that way to me. Even under the tape, you can see they angle at the trunk, like the current ones do. That’s the part that always looked bad. Reminds me of the previous generation Civic’s tailamps.

C63 AMG FTW. This car is great, although you’re so right when you say that it looks like a cheap jap. The previous model had, correction, has, more presence than this one.

How do you know if it’s a BMW, since it has no badges visible? LOL
Do they block with masking tape little BMW badge in the middle of the steering wheel too?

I agree with Z06. The current E90’s tail lamps are ugly. They remind me of the regular sedan. The E90 should have its own.

They should add turbos to the V8 since the V10 is getting them, would add power and emissions and such.

They did a great job “japping up” the 3 series!! Boring!
Its interesting how BMWs look like old SAABs, and SAABS are trying to look like BMWS, and the Japanese brands still have their heads up there ass!
