The latest BMW Canada commercial to promote the 2013 M5 succeeds in portraying the high-performance flagship sedan as being bullet-like.
Set on the Bonneville Salt Flats, the M5 is launched from a gun barrel-like tube aimed at a series of targets. The high performance art clip emulates the smoke of a gunshot by having the M5 light up its rear tires as it literally smokes out of the barrel.

With the cool precision of an assassin, the M5 sets its sights on its first target. The head-up display is briefly highlighted as the car rapidly accelerates towards its mark. The raw sound of the quad-exhaust signals intent before it is juxtaposed against classical music soundtrack as the actions switches to super slow motion. The mix of live and CGI visuals are spectacular as the Bimmer crashes through a red glass apple.
The music and footage then cut back to high octane live action as it hurtles towards its next target. Three over-sized water-filled balloons are next on the hit list as it razor-like antenna slashes through them. It is apparently travelling so fast that it slashes through all three balloons and heads out of shot before the water touches the ground - again to the serene sounds of classical music while shot in slow mo.
Finally, it hits the bulls-eye on a target at the end of the range. We have to admit, we winced a little as the 560hp super sedan crashes through the barrier (even if it is foam), before it seems to gradually disappear behind the spray of debris and off into the distance.
