BMW names new Chairman

07/20/2006, 10:01 AM

By admin

BMW has appointed Dr. Norbert Reithofer to replace Dr. Helmut Panke as Chairman on September 1, 2006. BMW has a long-standing mandatory retirement policy that specifies no Chairman should be over the age of 60. Panke reaches that milestone this year. Reithofer previously oversaw production at the automaker since March 2000. He joined the company in 1987.

Does this maybe mean that the Bangle Design formula will be nixed or pushed harder? Will BMW continue to be about “Seeing Ideas Live”? I guess we’ll see in the next decade.
By the way, I am not the Mike that thinks he’s sexy, I don’t play for that team.

sadly…gardener is accurate compared to the last couple months. :( . (recently single) Anyways, I don’t think they should fire bangle. His designs have done more to differentiate the BMW brand then any other designer. Not to mention that most companies are copying his design language AND BMW has sold more cars in the last couple years then any other years prior. So, bangle must be doing something right.

I was looking through an architectural/design periodical and saw an article which described how BMW has a mechanical/technician’s garage/fishbowl sitting in the shadow of one of their behemoth complexes. ANYWAY, what you can view is a person (BMW technician)constructing a 2002 from basically scratch! Okay, so if they continued on that route(producing and selling high grade early models, you would find the sales of those units would be like a house on fire in comparison to Bangle’s weird looking cars.
