Neiman Marcus and BMW have teamed up once again to create a limited-edition vehicle to be sold in the luxury department store’s 2008 holiday catalog. BMW and Neiman Marcus have a relationship that extends back to 1995 when the Dallas-based retailer offered a special-edition Z3 through its catalog several months before the car’s official launch. In the 2008 catalog, BMW and Neiman Marcus will offer buyers the opportunity to acquire the all-new 7-Series sedan well before the general public will be able to take delivery.
The catalog will begin taking orders on Oct. 16 for the 31 examples offered, representing the 31st anniversary of the 7-Series. Each example will be swathed in an exclusive Diopside Black paint scheme applied by BMW’s in-house “Individual” design studio. All of the catalog cars will be the long-wheelbase 750Lis and each will include a European driving experience package.
Customers will take delivery of their 7-Series sedans in April in Munich, Germany, before embarking on a drive through the South of France along the Riviera.
All 31 cars will also include piano black interior trim, Champagne Merino leather and BMW Individual badging throughout. At $160,000, the Neiman Marcus edition 7-Series isn’t cheap, but it does promise exclusivity and, if past catalog sales have been any indication, it will likely sell out within a matter of minutes.
Previously, BMW and Neiman Marcus have teamed up on four vehicles: The aforementioned Z3 (1995), the X5 (1998), 645Ci (2003) and M6 (2006).
