Contrary to a recent Advertising Age report picked up by Leftlane and other news outlets, BMW will not drop its “Ultimate Driving Machine” tagline, ad agency GSD&M has said. “BMW has no intention of dropping, altering or in any way moving away from that great line,” spokesman Eric Webber told Cars.com. Instead, the slogan will be run in addition to the new “Company of Ideas” campaign.

The day that BMW changes from “The Ultimate Driving Machine” will be the same day they introduce front-wheel drive. They’ll simply never do either.

Their slogan is “The Ultimate Driving Machine” not the Ultimate Racing Machine. Also, all BMW’s Traction and stability control systems are defeatable. Apparently, “anonymous” if that is your real name… you have never driven a BMW. I am on my 3rd and each time i have test driven almost every car in the X5, 545 and now 3 series catagory. None compare to the BMW’s driving dynamics.

Of course I have never driven a BMW, I cannot afford an Ultimate Driving Machine. And if I did have the money I would buy a car that doesn’t have an driver aids, because their useless and make the car more expensive to repair. And you cannot turn off the driver aids in BMW, even in “sport” mode they are still their. No electronic device will be able to replace a compentent driver.

Anonymous, that’s very true… no computer will be able to replace a compentent driver
or make up for ones stupidity when they crash.
Of course they’re not going to change the slogan though. Many people when they think of BMW they think exactly of “ultimate driving machine”.

Actually anonymous, in cars with electronic aids single single vehicle accidents have decreased by about 40% not to mention a “competent driver” is less common then an incompentent driver, which I imagine you might not even be a driver. Another thing, YES you can turn off all of the traction and stability control in a BMW. All that is left on is the ABS. Being that you have never driven one, how can you even begin to comment on them.
THAT is what pisses me off about this website. Great News, but a bunch of ignorant kids wasting bandwidth with their uneducated, biased and narrow minded comments. If you don’t know what you are talking about, don’t say anything. You should have to be a member to comment.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a Virginia non-profit organization funded by insurers, said that ESC cuts single-vehicle fatalities by 56 percent and multiple-vehicle wreck fatalities by 32 percent. The gains are bigger for single-vehicle crashes because skidding is a bigger factor in those.
Most of the gain comes from reducing rollovers, an especially deadly type of crash. ESC cuts them by 80 percent in SUVs and 77 percent in other cars, the insurance group reported in June. Its findings were based on the government’s fatal accidents database and police highway-fatality reports from 2001 through 2004.
