BMW plans five debuts for next two auto shows

The auto show season is just about to kick off and it looks as though BMW is ready for the new season with a host of planned reveals. According to a new report, BMW plans to show no less than five new and concept vehicles at the next two shows.

BMW’s parade of debuts will start at October’s Paris Motor Show. According to Edmunds, BMW will reveal the lightly freshened 3-series, as well as the all-new 7-series. In addition, look for BMW to also show an ActiveHybrid version of its new 7-series in Paris.

It is also believed that the German automaker will unveil a concept version of its X1 SUV at the Paris show. Although the car will technically be labeled a concept, we expect it to be a clearly hint at what the production model will look like.

Once the show season moves back to the U.S., specifically sunny California, BMW will unveil its latest drop top. According to Edmunds, BMW is planning to unveil its all new Z4 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

In another bit of BMW news, it is being reported that BMW will offer its news seven-speed dual-clutch transmission on its U.S.-spec 335i and 335d models.

Make sure you check Leftlane for exclusive live-from-the-floor show coverage of both the Paris and Los Angeles auto shows.

I’ve got to see the new 7-series in person because that front end looks quite bulbous and unattractive in all of the photos.

Maybe they’ll throw more strech fabric over a hollywood car skeleton and make it move and squiggle really stupidly.

Somebody should throw stretchy fabric over Chris Bangle and we’ll all watch him move and squiggle really stupidly.

Should get great highway fuel mileage too. They could put a really tall over drive gear for 7th, and the low end torque of the diesel would have no problem maintaining speed, while keeping near idle RPM’s on the highway. If you keep the RPM’s down, diesels run super-efficient.

johnnycanuck, best comment EVER. The 7-series has looked ridiculous since being Bangled up in 2002. Now they put Z4-looking tail lights on it? Ugh. The new 3 coupe and the 6 are the two best-looking BMWs out there right now. Looking for a 2003 540i M6 Sport.
