@howsmydriving: what’s your freaking point? If I complain on the fluttering hardtop roof on a Bimmer convertible, you are going to say why do I need a car that can open the roof? If I complain on the constantly failing fuel pump on that M something, you are going to say why do I need 400 horses? BMW might think people wanted to buy their SUV because of that roundel stuck on the hood, so if I got hesitation and lag from the motor, or the transmission is rocking the car back and forth, they are just going to tell me they didn’t force me into buy this X3 (im determined), so next time buy some other brands???. Well, @howsmydriving you DO sound like you work for BMW.

Don’t you know that some people, mainly the people that own high end cars never experianced the recession. The stock market has been doing great for the past 12 months, and the economy has never looked better for a large portion of the population in the united stated. Yes, if you listen to Rush drug addict, or glenn beck, the world is coming to an end. But, they are not reality. The reality is the NASDAQ, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The right wing world coming to an end, just found a way to make a lot of money off of a lot of uneducated people. This is why the FOX business news network is a joke to everyone on wall street. The next couple of years are going to be great for high end autos, Mercedes, Audi, and BMW.

Really? How can they really expect that much improvement? The dollar is going to continue to slump… which means food and gas prices will be astronomical by summer again, just like they were last time around. Except this time the Govt is out of options to combat the inflation because interest rates are as low as they can go.

We’re not out of this yet folks… so don’t get disillusioned by listening to all these overly optimistic people.

What a joke. Cadillac has already proven that BMW’s are the biggest crock of the industry and that is why more and more people are lining up to buy Cadillacs and nobody is buying German sh1t.

The only 10 percent increase should be the increase in business at the tow truck companies. All these BMW’s coming out of warranty and all. Owners should be dumping them now instead of waiting for the “trip of death” to the junkyard with their precious German car.

There are only two auto manufacturers, GM and everybody else…

I could see this from BMW. Because the people that have jobs are making more money now. The stock market is up over 20% from last year. People that have money now appreciate the nice things in life. Like BMW’s, Audi’s, and other high end cars. This may not happen with Lexus or Cadillac. They are mostly bought by the older generation. And if they watch Fox news, they probably think that the world is going to end. So, they are saving their money. And not spending too much of it right now.

10% is pretty optimistic considering the direction they have been going with their styling.

The Dash on most BMW’s including the 5 series is still embarrassingly outdated and old fashioned.

Hopes and dreams is what BMW operate on and this is something that may idle their company. People are really anticipating the new model because the current model that has been around is bland and crappy looking. I’m actually looking forward to the new 5 series. I just don’t want to see how the GT series of cars will fare out. Chris Bangle knew what he was doing and the new design chief is fvcking up royally.

@howsmydriving- BMW absolutely sold uncover an x3. Hence the Buyer/Seller relationship. Perhaps you meant to say BMW did not force him to buy an x3.
What this country needs is less people that think they have a right to say what other people buy. Who cares if he needed the extra space? The only people that should are himself, and BMW.

On topic: I do not see a 10% increase for bimmer next year. I would be surprised if the U.S. luxury car market doesn’t shrink by 10%.

Note to Uncover: BMW didn’t sell you an X3 — you went out determined to buy one. Next time, try buying something more suited to your real motoring needs — do you really need all that space, weight, and height? This country needs another major gas crisis to put the final kabosh on SUV’s.

BMW your cars only have the looks. You sold me that X3 with the horrible automatic transmission. It took 30 months and more than a dozen trips to fix it! And it’s better now but still only half perfect. Your customer service is worst of the worst. I will never ever buy another Bimmer. Bye-bye.

Um, yeah, the 5-series is the benchmark for mid-size luxury. In all seriousness (something that is apparently lacking in this forum) the 5 only has competition from the A6 and E-class. Well, maybe, MAYBE the GS. But come on…even the current 5-series is gorgeous. I can only imagine what this next one will look like in person.

Flat out, BMW knows what they are doing when it comes to proportion and stance.

After seeing the photos of the new 5-series in the most recent edition of Car & Driver, it’s back on my list of possibilities for next year. Absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to see it in person.
