BMW set to debut Z4, Z2 next month?

11/26/2008, 12:55 PM

By Drew Johnson

Although most automakers are delaying new product launches amid an ever-slumping market, the rumor mill suggest that BMW will be taking the opposite approach. The German automaker has been working on an updated version of its Z4 for some time now, and it looks as though we could see the finished product next month.

According to BMWBlog, BMW will introduce its all-new Z4 next month. This theory is actually supported by BMW as it has launched a new teaser site that includes a countdown to the introduction of a new model. The clock has close to 19 days left of it, so circle December 14th on your calendar.

In addition to the Z4, rumor has it BMW is working on a coupe version of the Z4. Although the last two generations of the Z4 and Z3 offered coupe variants, the new model is said to be more coupe than hatchback. It also remains possible that BMW will only offer the M treatment on the Z4 Coupe, which will likely be powered by the same V8 found under the hood of the M3.

In addition to the two new Z4 model, BMW could also be working on a smaller Z2. The Z2 would ride on the 1-Series’ shortened wheelbase and would likely be offered as both a coupe and convertible. It remains possible that the Z2 could surface next month, but the chances seem remote at this point.

Either way stay tuned as we expect to see at least one new product from BMW next month.

Yay. Z4 is still ultra gay… for chicks… but let’s see where it’s headed.

Disagree. The Z4 COUPE isn’t ‘ultra gay… for chicks.’

Especially in black, it looks really aggressive.

nothing will change about that. and the rich old guys that think driving a BMW roadster is cool will have one too don’t worry. So i’m guessing the Z2 will attract more female drivers due to smaller size
