German automaker BMW says that it doesn’t plan to cut any full-time factory workers, but it is planning to reduce its part-time temporary workforce, as well as working hours for up to 26,000 German employees. The cuts will come to a handful of undisclosed German production facilities as the automaker grapples with falling sales.
The company says it held talks between white collar management and representatives of its employees to agree on the production slowdowns and work-hour cuts.
In the United States, BMW saw a massive decline in sales last month – 40.2 percent – and it closed out the year with sales down 15.2 percent overall.
