BMW will take the wraps off of a new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel six-cylinder later this year when it launches the 735d. Set to replace the automaker’s current 3.0-liter diesel seen in the 335d and X5 xDrive35d in North America, the new twin-turbo will crank out 306 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. of torque.
That represents a 41 horse and 17 lb-ft. improvement over the current motor – and to top it all off, BMW says the engine uses 4 percent less fuel and also emits 4 percent lower CO2 emissions.

We anticipate the engine to be premiered later this year under the hood of the all-new 7-Series at the Frankfurt Motor Show and, before long, it should appear in the 3-Series and X5 in North America, as well as the X6 and 5-Series abroad.
