thats pretty funny #13!!! but seriously, BMW is trying everything to get the best performance out of there cars without just doin the obviuos changes like displacement. more power to 'em! BMW's seems to be ahead in all segments of technology at this point and all the other manufactorers are trying to keep up.

I want BMW to start increasing performance by DECREASING weight. Thats the key. Forget about larger engines. Increase efficiency and decrease weight. I want all BMW engines to be over 100 hp per liter in 10 years. Then again, I want Jessica Alba as my wife...

A Cayman S poster #6! As for #2's post, BMW will never EVER build a V6 over an I-6.

More automakers should follow BMW's lead. Thats a very wise approach. Next step is to make the cars lighter.

BMW like any company that truly believes it has to compete will use all available resources to do so. I do not see this as any deviation from their business philiosophy. It is so easy to put a high horsepower engine in a vehicle- the challenge is improving the dynamics of the vehicle. They are taking the F-1 strategy to get performance from the car and machine without increasing the size.

"A large portion of the big engine push has come from outside the U.S., with automakers like Mercedes pushing beyond five or six liters for performance models. "
