BMW has given fans a sneak peak at the hardcore M version of its 2013 X6 range. As an appetiser, the Bavarian company has posted two short video teasers highlighting its performance nature, showing it tearing up rubber on the track.
As the videos show, the new X6 M picks up a new fascia, replete with a new grille and a tough-looking oversize air dam in lieu of the foglamps that come on the standard configs. What can’t be seen and is instead left to the imagination is the brutal 555 horsepower turbo-charged 4.4-liter V8 that is mated exclusively to an automatic transmission.
The new X6 M also appears to pick up as standard fitment the new adaptive LED headlamps that are optional on the rest of the X6 range – they get Xenon headlamps as standard but can opt for the more expensive LED headlamps too. The light sources for low and high beam light are LED units positioned on a horizontal bar at its center, allowing their light to feed into the reflectors in front.
Other touches highlighted in the videos include its suitably aggressive raised hood, as well as its sporty-looking M-branded brake calipers rounding out the high-performance package.
The X6 range mixes the looks of an SUV with a more traditional wagon. The lower stance, however, does offer it more performance potential on the road with its lower center of gravity – regardless of how polarizing its looks might be.
The 2013 BMW X6 range arrives in the US this spring.
