As who wants a do everything car..? Sports car handling, insane performance, wife and kids
on board, luggage in the back and bikes on the roof..?

Gimme an RS2,RS4, RS6 avant,M5 wagon, AMG wagon anyday..!

you know i actually agree with you guys, BMW will sell more M5 wagons in the US than probably all of europe combined. the M5 badge will be the selling factor itself. just another toy to add to the garage. too bad all the gearboxes for this thing suck. wheres a slushbox when you need one!

And back to audi, i bet theyll rethink their wagon offerings now that they pulled the outstanding, and well-selling allroad from the american market as to favor the slow-selling Q7, which is worse than the allroad in every way. Yes the Q7 is a great SUV, but it showed up to the party too late, and SUVs are the last thing audi should be doing. The Q3 will be a decent offering if it has a 3-door setup and the S3′s 2.0t (as the fastest engine option). Wagons will be back… nevermind that manufacturers dont even advertise them. How many SUV ads have you seen? a MILLION. How many wagon ads have you seen? VOLVO’s. who sells wagons? VOLVO. Im tired of seeing Q7 ads on tv. They should have the A6 avant up there. With the S6 Avant coming out from behind it. RS4 avant? Have it fly up behind an M3 and C55, or even an M5, have it flash its lights, growl its engine, and have the inferior car move out of its way. Want to restore american’s faith in wagons? Publicize them as the new cool, and they will buy. Nobody even knows half of them exist. I sure as hell know my mom never knew there was a BMW/Audi wagon that would have spanked her Volvo XC70 when she bought it.

theres a market for super-wagons here
it may be in a smaller volume than what manufacturers would wish for, but there IS a niche market for such a vehicle. Audi is losing faith in the US wagon market and its starting to piss me off… the E55 AMG wagon made it here and was actually FASTER to 60 than the sedan, as there was more weight over the rear wheels. Lets hope they bring these awesome products here and screw off with all the SUV’s.

I ma sitting here in Germany; driving a BMW 5-series Touring everyday – have lived for years in the US and have driven GM cars – trust me; there is a difference. GM cars is Diet Coke and BMW is the Coke “The real thing” – until you have driven both cars – you can hardly allow yourself to pass any sort of judgement – there is a distinct difference in the the whole approach to building cars; GM is a car made for top speeds of 70-90 miles per hour, very soft (way too soft) suspension, plastic interior and seats felling you are sitting in a recliner – where as BMW is a true performer – great suspension, great handling and looks great.

So your obnoxious attitude is annoying and naive – just GM. GM is headed straight ahead in direction of Chapter 11 and BMW is one of the most productive & profitable manufactures worldwide.

BMW can go right up there with other negligent manufacturers for not bringing over station wagon versions of high powered sedans:

Audi’s S6 Avant
Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution Wagon
Nissan’s Stagea stationwagon (derived from the Skyline/G35 sedan)
Subaru’s Legacy Wagon B4 Blitzen and Forester STI
Volv…. no, I can’t think of a true superVolvo wagon we haven’t been given.

Not ONE of these manufacturers thinks anyone cares about high performance stationwagons in the USA. I agree that they should be able to sell them pretty easily. They just don’t want to and that makes it very frustrating for people who want a stationwagon and happen to like utility and speed in the same package.

Chrysler/Dodge makes a high performance stationwagon. They’re the only one unless you think a Subaru Legacy GT Wagon is fast.

Boo BMW. Do the right thing and change a few minds.

What a shame! I hope we’ll get it here in the Great White North. BMW Canada took always beter care of BMW fans over here. We had Euro-spec E36 ///M3 with proper ///M-engine and 286 hp in 1994, we had uniq to Canada run of 32 cars in 1995 of E34 ///M540i (bacisly M5, but with 540i drivetrain) and we have BMW Individual. So, there is a hope that we could get limited ammount of Super Tourings. IMHO E61 (5-Series Touring) looks better then E60 (5-Series Sedan).

You’re silly. And, well, frankly, so is your name. Anyways, all those cars…Impalas, G6′s, etc….they are all good if you want to drive in a straight line to and from your job (probably in some cubical). What’s the fun in that? I’ve never been more impressed with a BMW until my friend took me for a ride in his 1986 535is. Last I recall the car had 150k miles and the best German paint job around….top notch. I’m sure if I came across a GM car that was 20 years old and had (God forbid someone drove it that long) 150k miles on it, I’d be able to take that car across the continent or push its physical limits on a race course. I don’t want to judge but i’m not sure you could tell me much about any BMW whether it’s one of the first 2002′s or this Touring M5 AND using vulgarity doesn’t help your cause. While you continue your silly tirad of bimmer bashing I’ll continue to enjoy the legacy of fine German engineering.

I’m sure BMW’s are good for the first 5 -10 thousand miles but after that it’s all downhill. Their electricals are worst (glitches, fires) and their body integrity doesn’t stand the test of time. They usually look pretty ratty by 50k. In comparison, look at a comparable GM like the Pontiac G6 or Chevrolet Impala and you’ll see they are solid and drive like brand new. Getting 300k on one of those is no problem. Good luck getting that on any other shit brand vehicle.

who is in here everyone of you pretty much talked crap about bmw I can tell that none of you has ever steped foot into a bmw let alone an M5 reliabilty is not an issuse with bmw M5
How many cars have as good as reliabilty as an M5
Hell how many cars are as fast, handle as good, and pay for your mantaince.
Look at a 360 mondona not as fast not reliable but its ok becasue its them and not bmw, you guys suck. really suck

The fact that it wouldn’t sell here, and it won’t, isn’t a reflection of BMW, but U.S. consumerism. Why buy a fully capable 500+Hp super-wagon that will last 20 years when I can go buy a Charger I saw in a NASCAR race that will last the whole drive home.

Wagons are a dying breed. With the introduction of the new Lambda utes, we are going to see more and more wagons die off as the competition diverts funds to playing catchup to them. Same with minivans, same with truck based SUV’s (Other than the new 900′s of course, those are kicking ass and taking names). They have little market prescence anymore and they aren’t nearly as hip and cool as the Lambda’s.

Mix that with reliability blues, quality glitches and foolish crap like I-drive, and this new BMW would be just another loser.

I always thought that if you’re going to buy a sports car, you’re not also going to buy a station wagon in the same vehicle.

Perhaps there are enough people who think like me to keep BMW from putting it on the market.

But really, how hard would it be to just send a couple of units over? If they don’t sell, send less. You’ve got the powertrain already, so how much more costly would it be to send the wagon over?
