Did I read that article right??? Or did LLN get it wrong????

>>>>>Still, BMW earned more than $1 million for the quarter as sales revenue increased 11 percent.
.
They made a paltry ONE MILLION DOLLARS in a quarter??? Just a freakin million bucks?? On $17 BILLION in sales??? Honestly, if that's accurate that is a pretty pathetic business performance unless a company is in turnaround mode. They sell loads of high end stuff and can't earn enough in a quarter to buy a Bugatti. That number must be 1 billion dollars because at least that would be an okay business performance and something to report.

BMW's are obviously worth the money, why? Because they have had record sales, meaning many people have made the choice to purchase one and continue to do so. Why? Well every person is different and they make their own choice based on their individual needs, and desires. The same can be said for Caddi. Bottom line is if your selling well then your doing something rite. Don't hate cause a brand's got the goods. BMW sets the benchmark that a vast majority of the industry strides to even touch. Price and money is all relevant. If you have money you don't wanna buy something as common as a Civic, thats why Luxury items exist. So saying "its such a waste of money when you could buy 3 accords for the price of one BMW 550i" is a retarded remark. DUH thats the damn point. I can also go out and buy a Bently for 300k as opposed to buying 3 Mercedes S550's for the same price. Don't be jealous because you cannot afford such things. Thats why you say that. There is a car for everyones financial place. If you don't like where you are then you need to work on changing that.

GM_Sales: BMW sales are up 26% over this time last year and Cadillac & Saab sales are both down more than 5%. I guess that shoots a hole in your theory that Caddy/Saab are stealing customers from BMW.

Did your post show up after someone else posted?
I dont think its a delay. My post appeared for about 5 minutes then disappeared until I posted again. Then both posts disappeared after about 10 minutes and only reappeared when I posted again.
There is definitely a problem with the LLN site.

Scarface03: Of course for the price many competitors, such as the Acura TL, give you far, far more options for the money. But that's all they are, they are options, they make things a bit easier, and are cool for a while, but in the end, what's more important--having a navigation system(something we as motorists and as humans lived without for thousands of years), or having a superiorly driving vehicle? For me, my money goes into how my vehicle drives, and the quality of the materials used to build it. The TL has the quality of materials thing down, and its definitely a blast to drive, but I'll pay more for the 3-Series and get a car that's even MORE fun.

Good work. BMW's are the best in their respective fields for a reason..well for the most part they are, of course there are exceptions but generally I find BMW's to be far, far better and more desirable machines than most of the competitors, though there are some fantastic cars out there.

Scareface you should look at the total cost of ownership which includes resale value, maintenance costs, etc. You will find BMWs are closer to the competition than what the initial sticker price suggests. BMWs have extremely high resale value & virtually no costs for 4 years other than gas. The BMW will still be more but in most cases its a small difference in price.
Edmunds.com has a TCO that worth a look. For example a comparably equipped TL is only $3500 less than the equivalent BMW over 5 years. So you need to ask yourself if BMWs are that much better to jusify about 3500 more over the course of owning the car for 5 years. Of course if money is tight I wouldnt look to buy any luxury brand.

Let GM_Sales say what he wants. He takes the high road--some posters just swear and call people gay.
The resurgence of GM can't be ignored, I say, and the updated CTS is better in all the right ways.
My biggest problem with Bimmers is the value of the money you're spending. I'm on a budget, which I strained with the purchase of a TL. But with just a navi option and a 6-speed manual, I got Bluetooth connectivity, voice-activated nav, auto climate controls, LSD, Brembo front brakes, HID highs and lows, touch screen nav, HomeLink, power moonroof, leather interior, XM radio, 6-disc CD changer, etc. And I saved over $10,000 over a comparably equipped 3-series.
There are similar deals to be had with the CTS and G35/G37. BMWs in my mind just aren't that much better to justify the money.

That video is not indicative of Cadillacs as a whole. It was proven that he didn't take care of his car and that's why it broke on him. I bet everybody else out there with one has had no problems whatsoever.

GM cars and trucks rarely break and when they do, it's because they were improperly maintained in the first place. With BMW, you make best friends with your service advisor.

Obviously GM_Sales cant read if he thinks Caddy and Saab are eroding BMW sales. BMW revenue increased 11 percent and sold 8.6 percent more cars. Profit decreasing is only due to higher costs and not because of eroding sales (sales increased 8.6 percent). I bet GM wishes they had continually increasing sales and a highly profitable company.

Look up fanboy in the dictionary and you will see GM Sales' name.
"At least when you buy a GM, you never have to worry about it breaking down on you" Thanks for the laugh GM Sales. Caddys and Saabs are POS. I'd buy any other luxury brand before I'd consider a Cadillac.
Its a sign that you are buying a crappy GM car when the company discounts their luxury cars and the cars loose half their value in 3 years. You dont see Audi or BMW needing discounts to sell cars.

"And Saab is giving $4k to anyone willing to take a 9-3 home, that shows how great they are."

Those are the old models, usually with no options and unpopular colors. The loaded 9-3's are a sales hit and dealers usually can't keep them on the lots. Look at the BMW and Mercedes lots, they're chock full of cars that nobody wants. Those folks are either at the SAAB or the Cadillac dealers with a few over at the Pontiac and Saturn lots buying those cars in droves.

Get your facts straight. Stop being so ignorant.

The BMW is not even in the same league as Cadillac. From a performance point of view, the V-series slaughter the BMW's on the track and that's when the BMW isn't stuck on a flatbead with a a blown motor or one of the many electrical hiccups that plague German cars. Meanwhile owners of Cadillacs just hum along, not a worry of breaking down or leaving them stranded. GM vehicles never break, it's a known fact.

Interior quality is superior with the Cadillac, and you'll never find a better built vehicle than you can with a Cadillac. You'd have to look elsewhere in the GM lineup if you want to find something close. Everything else in the industry is cheap overrated crap when you look at it.

That's only for the CTS/STS though... besides those two cars, which are only good alternatives because they'r almost as good as Bimmers but sell for many thousands less, BMW is still the way to go over Caddy.

And Saab is giving $4k to anyone willing to take a 9-3 home, that shows how great they are.

A slip in profit is only the beginning. The BMW reputation is waining, and folks are realizing that you can just as well head to your local SAAB or Cadillac dealer and get a superior car for less money. The 3-series is BMW's only saving grace and the new CTS and revised 9-3 will easily erode at those sales. Face it, people don't want an expensive car that spend its entire life in the repair shop. At least when you buy a GM, you never have to worry about it breaking down on you and you get just as much, if not more performance/luxury for the money.

This is only the beginning of the end for BMW.

This is great news and further proves that Cadillac and SAAB are slowly eroding away the share of the crappy German brands. What would be icing on the cake would be the plummeting sales of Mercedes and Audi as well.

Great job GM!
