Rocker Bob Seger may have helped save Chevrolet sales by licensing his “Like A Rock” song to General Motors in 1990, but today he’s anything but a Chevy man. Seger told Reuters he most enjoys driving around town in his Porsche Boxster or his Nissan pickup truck. He also owns a Ford Mustang convertible and a rarely driven Ford GT supercar. As for Chevys? “I don’t have any of them anymore,” he said. “Not one, no.” On his first studio album in 11 years (”Face the Promise”), Seger even speaks out about global warming and light trucks. He is also said to be a supporter of Al Gore’s global-warming documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.” He says he may get a Smart ForTwo when DaimlerChrysler begins offering the vehicles in 2008.

Wait, he speaks out about light trucks and how they hurt the atmosphere, a.k.a. global warming, but he drives a Ford GT? Doesnt that get about 8-12 m.p.g.? What a hypocrite, I wish these hollywood pricks could shutup for once. Oh, and how much is he going to drive his Smart car when he gets it? Probably not as much as his Boxster or Nissan Truck.

Who? Bob who? C’mon. Who gives a crap. If you go back and look at all the “songs” that have been used and then ask the artists if they use the product, do you really care what they would say? THEY TOOK THE MONEY THOUGH!!!!
Who gives a flying leap what he drives. He is an ass for believing the Gore-umentary crap logic. Global warming is happening yes, but NATURE itself is the main producer of global warming, NOT MANKIND. Take into consideration water vapor, and man only contributes .4% (yes, point four percent) of it TOTALLY. Gore spouts off about all the tonnage we produce, but NEVER puts it into perspective of how much is produced naturally. Idiot. It is called “data manipulation” when you tell people the numbers in order to sway the data your way.

I’m sure Jimmie Hendricks drove all the cars his songs have been used for. Ford and Chevy both used “Fire”a bout 25 years apart. Neither car did he drive or own. Honestly who cares what he drives, celebrities usually just go with what is popular at the time. It was just and add campaign. If I do recall correctly his dad or himself worked in a Ford plant, and he references Chevy in his song/s. BTW if GM is “Cheap Crap” the Toyota is “Jap Crap”. Two millions + and counting recalls , and some of which were forced by the Japanese government. Oh what a feeling. BTW whats the point on arguing about 1 or 2 mpg difference, all that can be made up by the individual driver with driving habits and maintenance. Plus you can find numerous conflicting reports on the web on car specs.

Paul – here’s a site for you! UAW made vehicles
http://www.uaw.org/uawmade/cartruck2006.cfm
When purchasing one of these models, check the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN.) A VIN beginning with “1,†“4†or “5†identifies a U.S.-made vehicle; “2†identifies a Canadian-made vehicle. Not all vehicles made in the United States or Canada are made by union-represented workers.
Here’s another site:
http://www.usstuff.com/cars.htm
According to the book ‘How Americans Can Buy American’ by Roger Simmermaker, (available for purchase by calling 1-888-US-OWNED howtobuyamerican.com) Chrysler produces 30% of its vehicles content in the USA, 50% for Ford, 70% for GM. The book emphasizes the importance of US ownership of the companies that make the vehicles. U.S. Stuff beleives Chrysler (Daimler-Chrysler) is now German owned!
So Paul tell us what do you Drive?

To bad that SUV’s aren’t the main reason that there is global warming, if you research it you can see the planet itself produces more greenhouse gas then automobiles do. I’m getting tired of all these so called tree huggers out there. The planet has survived for something like 4 billion years, I think it can handle what people do on it.

I love these articles. Personally, i don’t think there is another topic on here that gets people more jazzed up. My persoanl favorites are the ones like #3 (who remains nameless), who has a born hatred for GM and Escalades, but masquerades his hatred as a love for the environment. Well Mr. Anon, regardless of the name of the vehicle or who makes it, aren’t all vehicles that get 10mpg ‘gas guzzling vehicles that spew out into the atmosphere’??? (That statement just wreaks of emotion!!) Not just Crapalades right? Otherwise, you’re just bias and you have no real stance on the environment. If you want to be critical of Escalades for gas milage, then you better be critical of Ferraris, Lambos, Land Rovers, Aston Martins, Mercedes AMG, the Viper, ANY truck for that matter. But my guess is, people like #3 don’t really have a problem with the gas guzzling, it’s a problem with the people that can afford it. Escalades and Hummers, (the other vehicle these guys tear into) are more status symbols than anything else. Guys like #3 would rather see a redistribution of wealth from the owners of the vehicles before they made them mizers of milage.

Joey D, good point. How do the treehuggers explain that the North Pole was a tropical jungle roughly a million years ago? (yes, that’s why we have oil up there…) My hope is that one of them would suggest that T-Rex’s were driving around in gas guzzlers and global warmed themselves into extinction.
Anyway, Bob Seger sounds a wee bitter. Sounds like Chevy got a hell of a deal on the rights to his song and ol’ Bobby wanted more money but didn’t get it. Call it a hunch.

The “Crapalade is just 1 of 10 GMT-900 SUV’s that GM has in their stable at the moment and that isn’t even including the worst offender, HUMMER which if you were to look up the term “gashog” in the dictionary, there would be a big picture of an H2 right beside it.
Hummers are not supercars like the others you mentioned, it is an oversized SUV that sees more action on Hollywood BLVD than an actual TRAIL where it belongs. Ferarri, Aston, AMG are all niche sellers, Hummer is just another overgrown SUV. That’s the difference my friend.

Why do people **** on the concept of SUVs et al doing more street time than dirt time, and yet they’d wet their shorts to hop in a Lambo or Porsche or GT and go down a potholed freeway or race down a blvd maybe hitting 80? Those POS sportscars generally don’t see 1% track time either, but since they are not SUVs it’s okay I guess.
I guarantee you my street truck has seen more dirt than the average Porsche has seen track.
