Bogus renderings don’t depict Ferrari 612 P4/5

In March, we reported that Ferrari, Pininfarina, and a private citizen were working on a new Enzo-based car that hearkens back to the P4 racer of the 1960s. Called the 612 P4/5, the car is being built for Ferrari lover Jim Glickenhaus for about $3 million. Since the plan was revealed, several magazines — including AutoWeek and AutoExpress — have released “exclusive” renderings purportedly of the new car. Leftlane chose not to publish the AW and AE renderings because our sources indicated they were way off the mark. Mr. Glickenhaus and his colleagues have since come forward and confirmed these renderings do not accurately depict the 612 P4/5. The car has been kept tightly under wraps and is not expected to be shown until August 20th at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. Glickenhaus frequently posts on the FerrariChat owner’s club to provide updates on his progress.

Thank god its not real, because this one is awful. It shares nothing with the goregious P3/4 of th late 60’s. The proportions are way off. The glass dome is too much of a bubble and the beltline is to high as the front end is too short.

Nice concept but the overall execution isn’t. I’m glad that this isn’t the real thing. The concept of producing a one-off car built specially for customers is nice. I wonder how much it would have cost that lucky guy.
