Bollore partners with Pininfarina to develop electric car

12/21/2007, 10:16 AM

By Drew Johnson

French financier Vincent Bollore has announced that his parent company has entered into a joint-venture with Pininfarina to develop an electric car. The deal — which is valued at 150 million euros — will see the electric car designed and built in Italy.

The car will be sold in Europe, Japan and the United States. The companies hope to have the car to market by the summer of 2009.

According to Reuters, the car will use lithium-metal-polymer battery packs developed by the Bollore group.

The Bollore group is also developing an electric car with the French power company, EDF.

French automakers have some interesting designs out of a bunch of weird abominations. Their collaboration with Pininfarina should take care of that. Not sure about the electric motor thing though…

150 million Euros (200 mil USD) will produce prototype. If it is successful it will be sold to any number of European manufacturers. Pininfarina will make it look very attaractive: that what they do best.

I think it needs to be clarified on this thread that that car in the picture is NOT the car in question, it is as Wilson said the GM EV1 and bears no precedent on what the actual vehicle will look like.
