Although most automakers are making large cut backs amid slumping demand and an ever-tightening credit market, Australia’s Bolwell has decided that it’s the perfect time to launch a six-figure supercar. Dubbed the Nagari, the lightweight two-door is expected to make production early next year.
Bolwell produced a Nagari in the 1970s, but the all-new model forgoes its predecessor’s bare bone racer mentality in favor of a more luxurious, Grand Touring car.
Although the Nagari was expected to be offered with a high-performance supercharged engine, the coupe will do with a Toyota -sourced 295 horsepower 3.5L V6.
But don’t let the Nagari’s modest performance numbers fool you – thanks to lightweight materials, which add up to a scant 2,090 pounds, the Nagari is expect to make the sprint from 0-60 in under 4 seconds.
Inside, the Nagari will offer leather covered Recaro racing seats, a Momo steering wheel with carbon fiber paddle shifters, a satellite navigation system and a backup camera. A performance exhaust, 19 inch wheels and ABS brakes round out the Nagari’s package.
It doesn’t look like the Bolwell Nagari will be coming to the States anytime soon, but those living Down Under can pick one up for about $132,000.
