Filmmakers working on the upcoming “Casino Royale” James Bond film destroyed three Aston Martin DBS sports cars in one afternoon of filming, reports the U.K.’s Sun newspaper. Each car is estimated to be worth $300,000. “These are easily the most amazing James Bond cars yet. They look incredible and cost a fortune,” a source to the paper said. “Unfortunately, we had to smash three to pieces. And in the style of 007 our stunt driver walked away without a scratch.” [See also: our full report on the Aston Martin DBS].

The saddest thing is that if they used DB7s instead, nobody would ever know the difference. These Astons all look the same.

the DBS isn’t where Aston should be going towards. The molding no longer keeps the car svelte and elegant. Instead, it made the car look like a rich ricer’s car..

No these are not automatics. The A-hole new james bond couldnt drive a stick and burned the clutch on one of them. they had to stop filming for a while until he learned how to drive a manual.

They’re not even real DBSes – the whole idea of being valued at $300,000 each is a crock. That figure only applies to actual production models. Like most every Bond picture car in recent years, these are mock-ups – like the Vanquishes destroyed in “Die Another Day”, which were just bodyshells mounted to rear-drive V8 Explorer mechanicals, or the Z8 in “The World Is Not Enough”, which was a mock-up bodyshell on an AC Cobra kit car chassis. Don’t get suckered into crying over a PR stunt, guys…

thx Yozzie – I was getting upset for a minute. I know that one of the Sean Connery 007 films used a real Aston. Not sure which one though.
