There has been a lot of speculation about Bugatti ’s future lineup over the past several months — from a targa Veyron to a model slotted below the Veyron — but the latest report indicated that Bugatti was considering an even higher-performance version of the Veyron — dubbed “Project Lydia.” However, a new report finds that Bugatti has chosen to go another direction.
According to Motor Trend, Bugatti has decided to scrap the plans for Project Lydia. Apparently, Bugatti officials felt it was a bit too redundant to offer a high-performance version of the Veyron. Rumors pinned the Veyron performance model as a 1175 horspower, Є2.5 million super car with a production run of 70 units.

But the cancellation of Project Lydia might not be the end of a Bugatti lineup expansion. Motor Trend also speculates that Bugatti is considering producing a four-door sedan in the style of the Mercedes-Benz CLS. The four-door coupe will reportedly use a version of the Veyron’s engine mounted between the front fenders.

However, Bugatti has yet to confirm the new sedan, so its still possible it could go the way of Project Lydia.
