JohnnyBlazE, you're right, it's been out since maybe April...but now Bugatti is diverting attention to a Targa version. It's been a strange experience --- the Bugatti Veyron phenom --- I've heard less about the car after its release than before it.

I'm back!!! I just want to say that anyone who's buying a Bugatti is not buying it for speed. The only people who drive Bugatti's for speed are the test drivers that work for the company. The people that are in the market for a Bugatti are high class people looking for just another object to impress their friends. It's like a celeb buying a Baby Grand for their living room...why? Well, they bought it because it may look good, but it will surely impress guests. Tom Cruise would not purchase a Bugatti for speed. That'd be like someone other than Stevie Wonder buying a $1.9 million piano. Mr. Cruise would buy it because a) he can and b) it would impress many people, media included. In reality, it would never leave his garage, or living room.

Now, why to buy a Roadster? For the simple fact that you can say to your grandkids that you once had a car with a $600,000 sunroof. It's the same reason you'd buy a VW Phaeton. Not because its fast, not becuase it's reliable, but simply because you can tell a friend that you have a $100,000 VW.

Goodbye, and no more stupid comments because I can't write anymore.

Huh? Can they just release the supercar 1st before suggesting a variant.

The the Targa does seem a bit counterintuitive though. While it's not obviously clear where the driver is going to store the roof panel(s)...maybe the front boot...how will the design change?

I suppose I'd have the clearest opinion about whether or not I think owning a Veyron is ludicrous if I actually had the means to buy one and was given a test drive first.

However... I love cars to drive them. I always will. A $1 million or $1.9 million dollar car that is more showcase than ultimate driving machine makes diddly sense to me to personally own. A Ferarri F40 has always had my attention, though...

I am not in any position to walk into a Bugatti showroom so I'm doing little more than talk to the wind. Still, that's how I feel about cars in general, and I do love special cars that are built to drive.

And as for Tom Cruise, not only can he not open the door to the Veyron, he's too cheap to buy one, he just rented it for the MI:3 premiere.

You know he turned the Veyron on at the LA Auto Show? He said he was buying one there. If he really didn't but it for the LA auto show, that man is becoming a bigger douche by the minute with his stupid antics.

"Bugatti will make up for the added weight by giving the car a carbon hood and doors — bringing the weight back to down to the coupe's level."

Makes me laugh. The car is already a porky 4200 whopping pounds, who cares at this point? It's like the 400 pound woman drinking diet soda.

Money is no option if you are in the market for a Veyron. And what better way to garnish an epic car like the Veyron, than to give it a glass roof, and a removable one at that.

WHY ARE ALL THE VEYRON'S NOT SOLD YET, HEY RICH PEOPLE, ARE YOU MENTAL?

And as for Tom Cruise, not only can he not open the door to the Veyron, he's too cheap to buy one, he just rented it for the MI:3 premiere.

The people who buy this kinds of cars are the ones that dont even look for their lost bag with 2 million dollars in it. Tom Cruise has one, and I know a person who has his name in the list, and he's already paid the full amount. He has an Enzo, a XJ220, SLR, F40, Maybach 62, and much more exotic cars... He has so much money that he didn't even care how much the car cost. If he likes it, he'll have it no dispute about the price. He also donated $7 million USD to Red Cross, and built schools in Africa and India.

When I get rich I'll get me an EB110 SS and get it over w/.

I'd like to make an addition to Wickedated (comment no 8.). VW sold the 5.0 millionUSD-developed Bugattis to ultra-riches for 1.3 millionUSD. But the missing 3.7 millionUSD is paid by the other fool (and maybe not too rich) VW-owners. Yeah, this is a kind of business... :)

For the additional 600k from the regular coupe I expect the ff:
-A rectractable metal folding top with or without the nice electric dimming glass panels
-Top speed greater or up to par with the regular production coupe
-Weight and rigidity up to par to coupe(Zonda F can do it why can't the Veyron too?)
-Additional changes to the body that announces to the world that you have the convertible and not the regular coupe

I must say. Everyone is correct. My first rant is the fact that you're paying 1.9mil for a $600grand hard top that doesnt even put itself in the garage. If I opted to buy the targa...the top should take itself off when the weather was right and put itself away in the garage...if it started to rain, the thing should fly over and reassemble on your car. That extra 1.3mil is for the permits the must obtain for you to be able to buy such a dumb concept. Another thing...That glass better be made out of white sand from a Bermuda beach or something. And the fabric bs cover thing should be made out of only the finest silk and hand sewn by some korean kid.

But yes, the Veyron coupes were sold out completely 46 days after being released. So...the Targas are gauranteed gone already...so start saving up for their 2.6 million dollar 4door sedan that goes 160 maybe and doesnt have a hood or door panels. BINGO.

I must say. Everyone is correct. My first rant is the fact that you’re paying 1.9mil for a $600grand hard top that doesnt even put itself in the garage. If I opted to buy the targa…the top should take itself off when the weather was right and put itself away in the garage…if it started to rain, the thing should fly over and reassemble on your car. That extra 1.3mil is for the permits the must obtain for you to be able to buy such a dumb concept. Another thing…That glass better be made out of white sand from a Bermuda beach or something.
#4- Keep in mind that VW is taking a SEVERE blow on each Bugatti Veyron they make. Reports indicate that due to the limited run of these vehicles, after you square away development costs, each car costs VW $5mil to manufacture, but are being sold for $1.3mil. VW has the financial resources to get around that, mostly because the Veyron is more or less a showcase car. However, the surprising demand for this vehicle has actually given a new spin on things. On the first launch date in Dubai, 7 were sold within a 5 hour time frame! I believe most (if not all) of the Veyron are already spoken for. This gives plenty of room for VW to charge $1.9mil for the next batch. That being said, if you're on the market for a million dollar super car, 600k is short change for an even more exclusive ultraexotic.

If you take a chainsaw in youre "regular" veyron you will have this option as well, and after some extra work you will be able to store the roof in the car.
It's a cheaper option!

$1.9 million? Thats $600,000 more than the coupe. Its a small section of the roof that can be removed by hand. No push of button or anything? A folding hardtop costs $3 to $5,000 more than the coupe and it comes with a press button. Come on!! LOL

Maybe the Bugatti company hates rich peeps that don't do any work in their lives and found a way to make the rich drivers to do actual work!! (by lifting the heavy roof and putting it away in a 7-car garage) :-)

They'll slow the car down (which was the main point of this car) and you can't even bring the roof with you but they increase the price. Well you'll probably never run it to his limit and a glass roof is really nice so it will sell for sure before they put it to retail.
