Bugatti planning sedan; entry model rumors disputed

05/17/2006, 4:53 PM

By admin

Bugatti is planning a four-door ultra-luxury sedan with a 950 horsepower engine, according to the latest issue of Dutch car magazine Autovisie. Only slightly less powerful than its 1000hp sibling — the Veyron — the new model will have a coupe-like profile, similar to the Mercedes CLS-Class and Porsche Panamera, the report said. Citing “extremely reliable” sources, the magazine said the $1 million+ sedan could arrive in the next four years. The aim of the project is to create an “extraordinary mix of a car and pure art,” the source said. The source further said rumors that Bugatti might build a five-figure entry-level roadster are nonsense. See a full sketch by Michiel van den Brink of how the car could look after the jump…

Neat. I really enjoy the art in Bugattis design. Happy to see them building another car! But its too bad there wont be a mini eb for me.

i obviously admire the technical marvel that is the Veyron, the 1000bhp engine, the speed, all the challenges etc etc etc. but ive always thought that it looks a bit like a squashed beetle-something thats always overlooked by the press. but this car is incredible!!!!

I dunno… I’m really not sold on it yet. I think I’m going to wait til I see an actual model of some sort to make my choice.

It’s already overrated. And overpriced. Funny how that can happen so early on.

the Bugatti nameplate is 80+ years old I don’t know if that’s early on and the veyron looks like a steal it costs the company $5million+ for each veyron including the development costs.

#5: You’re going to wait to make your choice? Dude, if you’re talking about deciding which one to buy (Veyron or this one), all I have to say is: Respect.

The info mentioned above comes from two different sources: Autovisie and http://www.bugattipage.com from J.Horst.

According to Autovisie a source from within Bugatti mentioned that there will never be a Bugatti that would compete with any other within the VW-Audi group, so there will never be a cheap baby Veyron.

I made this design-drawing for Autovisie and I only wanted to show how I would like to see a new Royale.
Nothing about the looks of this car is certain, it’s just my imagination.
Two days later J. Horst mentioned on his website that Thomas Bscher himself talked about a fourdoor saloon.
I forgot to place the elephant on the grille, though… ;)

I’m going to have to agree, Brian you don’t know what you’re talking about. Look up how they made the Veyron, how advanced it is, the engineering behind it. If you’re smart at all you’d appreciate it after seeing that.

Michiel,

We realize the drawing is specualtive, but you did a damn good job of it either way. :)

To Marc no.15: the back of the 1994 bugatti EB112 is one of the ugliest things i have ever seen. certainly the worst bugatti made.

Aside from the “look at me” factor of a million dollar car, I can’t imagine why anyone would want this.

Hey panda…. you wanna maybe…. BACK THAT **** UP? You may not like how it looks, but its nicer than anything you’ve ever driven. Would you like to tell me I’m wrong? What do you drive?

And steve: No man, its not just some thing to let people know you have a million dollars to spend on a car. Its a million dollars because its the nicest car ever. So if you’re a really rich guy, and you want the nicest car you can buy, you go to Bugatti.

The Veyron is a million dollar car and it’s not the nicest car ever. Plus it doesn’t exist yet and you’re calling it the nicest car ever. I think the million dollar price tag is working.

I mean the sedan doesn’t exist yet. I’ve seen Veyrons. I just worded that poorly. I’m not saying anything beats Bugatti, I’m just saying I would actually have a better opinion of Bugatti if they weren’t million dollar cars. It’s easy to buy status. Outclassing everyone else for a price that would give you actual competition is much more impressive.

I certainly like the idea of a Bugatti sedan, how about the world’s fastest sedanto be another jewel in the crown for Bugatti and VW
