Why stop at 1001 hp anyway? A few independent supercars like Bristol Fighter T and SSC Ultimate Aero make more than that anyway. The next Bugatti needs at least 1250 horsepower to top those guys.

What are you going on about? There’s more than one way to crack an egg; the former method you describe is just as effective as the SAE method. When we discuss horsepower and brake-horsepower, we assume the measurement is taken at the flywheel, which is the case by both methods.
Moreover, the Veyron has ~1007HP in reality; the 1001HP is strictly a marketing ploy.

well, actually, a 1001 hp bugatti will have even MORE than 1001 hp when its measured in the US… the 1001 are the european way of measuring the HP, which is tested at the wheels, that is AFTER the drag form drivetrain, powergenerator and such.
opposed to the method used in the US: the HP values according to the us-vary to test it (the SAE method) just checks the engine itself, not power generator, no gears, no drivetrain… of course, ANY engine will have a higher output when measured like that…

its perfectly possible for a bugatti to have any were from about 995 horsepower all the way to 1010, I read it varys from model to model…no joke

If it dynoed at 1000 hp then it’s definately pushing more than 1000hp because with parasitic drag from the drivetrain!!
