To commemorate 100 years of the Bugatti nameplate, a new special edition Veyron will be offered for the not-so-low price of 1.35 million euros (€1,350,000) — which converts to $1.69 million at today’s exchange rates. Bugatti has not specified how many units will be sold.
The automaker did, however, indicate that 200 Veyrons have been delivered to date, with another 50 on order. Bugatti has long said it will only build 300 standard Veyron coupes before production ends, so that means just 50 more cars can be ordered. When production of the hardtop ends, car collectors and wealthy enthusiasts will have to turn to the open-air Veyron Grand Sport — limited to 150 units — for their Bugatti fix.
So what sets the Bleu Centenaire apart from the normal Veyron? For one, there’s the two-tone blue paint scheme. The car is painted in “sprintblue matte” and “sprintblue gloss” to create a unique visual effect.
The roof-trim-stripes and the exterior rearview mirrors are of polished, anodized aluminum. A special wheel design is standard, enhanced by bright red brake calipers. The front grille and the side air intakes have a “mirror shine” finish.
The interior of the Centenaire is fitted in a special “snowbeige” leather with quilting on the seats. The central console is covered in the same leather. New LED lights, Park Distance Control and a rearview camera have become part of the standard equipment for all Bugatti Veyrons from this year onward. The Bleu Centenaire shares all performance characteristics of other Veyron models.

That matte and gloss paint job is as stupid as its name “Blue Centennial”
You don’t turn 100 every day, so why waste it on just another Veyron?

Shame, Its just a blue paint job on a Veyron and some other minor tweaks, and no performance upgrades

In Bugatti’s defence, it’s hard to improve on the pinnacle of engieering…besides, they’re already losing money on each unit that they produce. I appreciate that they sell this car at a loss to showcase what is possible with an automobile.

I love the car too, but I’m with carbon and F50 here; this is a monumental event in the auto industry and I think it needs more than just a paint job.

It would be pretty pointless to give it more power. There are rules in the world and these rules say that X amount of horsepower will make car go X fast using X tires with an X drag coefficient and X weight with X gear ratio and X suspension. There are too many variables involved to just “give it more power.” I’m sure Bugatti would have given it 1600hp if they thought it could work, but they probably didn’t because the suspension, tires, etc wouldn’t be able to put that power down on the road. Also there is the aerodynamic factor for cars that travel above 217mph. At 217 a sort of rule comes into play that says your tires must have at least X friction coefficient (or mu) and X drag coefficient to proceed to higher speeds otherwise it doesn’t matter even if you have 2000hp. I am going to have to agree with ****sterS on this one, Bugatti is hard pressed to improve much more than a few mph, and that is only in top speed because the acceleration of the car already pushes the limits of what is possible with a road tire. Now as for that Super Veyron illustration that came out last year which looked like an LMP car, I would be down to see that.

When I spend 1.7 Large on a car, I expect it to be shiny. Completely shiny. If I wanted it to have a primer finish I’d buy a ‘73 Impala instead.
LOL at the “no performance upgrades” comment since the one thing all Veyrons obviously lack is performance.

I’m sure the car looks quite different in person. I have yet to see an actual Veyron in person. So far the look doesn’t impress me.

Is this the same matte blue that’s popped up on some recent Lamborghini’s?
Either way, I’ve thought most of the ’special edition’ Veyron’s have been a little ridiculous, but I have a strange affinity with this one…
