Pedro and Commo
GM has to prove themselves with time Ill give them a break and say 2017 instead of 2022 . If the cars they are selling now are #1 in sales have awards and no or little recalls then myself and The American public can consider them alongside foreign cars.
The facts are in the Japanese cars resale value vs the American cars resale value. The Japanese always come out on top which means they have better build quality and last longer.

I'll never by a "l---s" as a luxury car until they have dedicated models. I do kind of give nissan a break there\

My point was that it's NOT a Highlander clone, and putting that technology straight in the Highlander would be utterly pointless. And you know it. It's a totally different vehicle based on the same platform, that simple.

Sound-deadening technology?
here's my rebuttal:
why not just put the sound-deadening technology in the Highlander?

it's like the difference between a base and top-of-the-line tercel.

jackjim: The RX350 is significantly different from the Highlander. It is not a badge job. Toyota did not pull a GM with that one. You're acting like it's a Tahoe/Yukon or Trailblazer/Envoy scenario, where the vehicles are identical other than the name. You're wrong, lots of sound deadening technology is implemented in the Lexus, it has a completely different interior, completely different exterior, you can't get it in a whimpy 4-cylinder version, the ride is smoothed out, etc. Same platform, different vehicle. However, I don't think the Enclave should even be mentioned in the same sentence as the Q7, as the Q7 costs WAY more and is miles ahead of the Enclave in terms of design, interior quality, and sportiness. So for your sake you should leave that out of the comparison.

Yeah, you did mention the Highlander. You just called it the "RX350."

Someone mentioned the Q7 as the class leader. I disagree, but I'd say that's a reasonable concusion.

That's not to say its a bad offering by GM, like I've said before, miles ahead of the Rendezvous, but what class is it in? Name 3 competitors.

I didn't mention the Highlander, jackjim. I don't think ti's a joke though, the new one actually looks really damn good. But I'd say you're equally biased against Japanese cars as I am against domestics, so you saying that comes as no surprise to me.

Actually, in realty, the Enclave is "just there". It competes against nothing. The MDX and RX350 are too nice and expensive to compete with the Enclave, you're right, and the Pilot/Highlander don't cost quite as much, and aren't quite as large. The Enclave is sorta a pointless vehicle in a completely pointless class, if you think about it. It's "just there".

Lambo: neither Pilot is a real competitor for the Enclave, sorry. The Highlander is a joke, and I'm guessing the third row isn't as roomy.

tripleonefluffer: Commodoe has stated his reasoning. So, when you say he wants people to buy American just because it's American, everyone can call bullshit.

lucklaster: I drive at least one car a week in my profession. yesterday, it was a Volvo C30. very solid, but not something i could get passionate about.

Fluffer:

"this Enclave isnt in the same class as an "MDX" or a "RX350."
Duh. the buick is almost a luxury SUV, and the Pilot and Highlander are just ... there. Enclave is Major League, Pilot/Highlander are beer league.

1115, "look at the track record" is hardly proof that an all new vehicle is of good quality. The Camry had a good track record until the tranny failures and other engine issues.

Try again. This time give proof since above you said it is a "proven fact" so .... prove it. Should be damn easy with all those proven facts you can link to. Right?

Why do I care so much? Because you are SO ignorant!! Listen to yourself, "Nice try GM..well not really". You KNOW that the Enclave is a good car. It has gotten good reviews from EVERYONE (what, GM paid ALL of them??) and yet you still dislike it. Why? Because its a domestic car!

And sure, domestics have to "prove themselves" but how else can they do that unless they are given the chance to prove themselves? If biased fuks like you continue to bash them and slam them even though they HAVE improved design, quality, resales, and pretty much everything else..how are they supposed to prove themselves??

Pedrohead just look at the Honda Accords track record. It speaks for itself.

Commodore you want people to give domestics a fair chance and they will when the domestics prove themselves. In 10-15 years if the domestics make a reliable product that are equal to or better than the Japanese then they deserve to be considered. Why do you care so much >????

Either way this Enclave isnt in the same class as an MDX or a RX350. Nice try GM..well not really

How many of you here have a job that would put your butts in - much less drive most of the vehicles that you so self assured and brilliantly revue and pontificate about? Hum?
I'm sure most of you don't - And I think some of you don't even drive - hum? Some of you don't even own a vehicle. Some of you don't even have jobs. And some of you don't live in a big market and seldom or ever even see some of these vehicles. Some peeps on here have great expert knowledge and opinion about every vehicle and are personally familiar with every nut, bolt and oil stain belonging to it. Bull shit. Some of you get honest and try discussing vehicles you actually know something about.
Know who you are?

LamboZ - you've made some fair statements, except I would add cars like the Aura/Malibu and Lambdas and some other to your list as well.

1115 - I don't understand why you continue to post the LIE that I want people to consider American because of some patriotic sht. Neither of those things are true. I AM THE ONE WHO IS POSTING, I KNOW WHY I AM POSTING. If I was a patriot, I would be driving an American car. I just don't think people give domestic cars a fair chance. So please stop making up lies? Ok, thanks.

jackjimturkey: The Enclave fits in a weird spot, but for me, I think that the Acura MDX, for example, would be a fitting competitor, and is a far superior vehicle. Or the Lexus RX350 (I don't really think this is a competitor to the Enclave, but I suppose it's close enough). Or even the Honda Pilot (will be redesigned for 2009, in which case I think it will be a class leader), which can be ordered with plenty of luxury features, drives great, and is extremely reliable. I give the Enclave props, but I just hate how everyone is totally on its balls, to an insane extent. I have a thing about interiors as well, it's something I put a HUGE weight on, and their use of materials/build quality means a lot to me. The Enclave's interior really isn't that great, the wood is very plasticky, and the mix of fake aluminum with the fake wood is a real mistake in terms of design, it's also a gas drinker, and quite bloated. But yes yes, better than before, better than the Rendezvous, which was...a bad joke.

Lambo what "Competition" does the Enclave lag behind? I've driven everything that could realistically be considered a competitor, and many that would like to be considered competitors, and the Enclave beats them all, in my opinion

CTS DRIVER: I also think the Enclave is one of GM's best efforts to date, BUT it still lags behind the competition. "Better than before" isn't good enough if it still isn't equivalent to the competition. IMO. And yes, people can have opinions, I have mine.

CTS DRIVER: I don't hate everything American no matter what, for example, I own a Skagen Denmark Cadillac V-Series watch. I like certain domestic products, but am so disappointed with the overwhelmingly bad build quality and product competitiveness that I can't help but be biased. However it's inaccurate to say that I dislike all American products, here I'll name a few I enjoy.

-Cadillac CTS
-Cadillac STS
-Cadillac XLR
-Cadillac V-Series vehicles
-Chrysler 300C/300 SRT-8
-Dodge Charger R/T and Dodge Charger SRT-8
-Ford Mustang GT and above
-Lincoln MKZ
-Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan
-Dodge Ram SRT-10 (despite its utter ridiculousness, I find it an amusing product)
-Pontiac G8
-Chevy Corvette
-Saturn Sky Redline
-etc

I wouldn't drive these next vehicles, but I think they are well made:

-GMC Sierra/Silverado
-Ford Expedition
-Ford F-150
-Cadillac Escalade
-etc

But you see, since domestic vehicles that I think are truly competitive make up such a small % of all domestics for sale, I am going to have a strong opinion and in this case, it's against domestics overall.

I'd liike some of that proof, as well

Inetpro:

"if either of my GM products start to give me problems ... I won't ever buy one again.
Same here. There's a reason I'm comfortable driving GM cars.
Lucklaster: This is a vehicle that impresses me in a way only ferarris and BMWs have before

tripleonefluffer. I can afford the "MDX," but I'd prefer something better.

Commodore: your post at 12:18 a.m. was flawless.

lucklaster: They're turning at different speeds, but they have to. However, I'm predicting that they'll be the Big Two by 2017

RicardoHead: You need to take than analogy one step further. AND HE REFUSES TO WATCH HER SEX TAPE, BECAUSE HE ALREADY KNOWS HE'S RIGHT!

Lambo: No need to generalize. This is one winner foir one company. Although, coming on the heels of the Aura and contemporaneous with the Vue, you could say it heralds a GM renaissance.

Commodore: to quote the fluffer "Your buddy Commodore thinks that consumers should give Gm a chance bc they are American and not because they make an equal or superior product."
Is that true?

Freedom of choice and opinion is exactly why Im posting. Your buddy Commodore thinks that consumers should give Gm a chance bc they are American and not because they make an equal or superior product. If you believe that GM is on the level of Japanese cars then you are the sheep
I never told anyone what they should buy I mention that the Japanese have higher resale values reliability scores and build quality All of which can be proven
If you think the best CUV ever is a Buick you have more problems than you can handle lol
LLN is not biased they are just cashing GMs checks lol

Apparently by "hottest model of September" they mean by number of days on the dealer lot, not by total number sold. But how come they only mention the Buick Enclave in the title and most of the article, when it was obviously tied with the Prius? Seems like LLN is a little biased for domestics...?
GM had a nice month, Toyota was down overall, but only 1%, so the battle goes on...

tripleonefive-
The auto maker world is changing.
America is coming back around.
YOU may not see or feel it yet - but with or without you - it is coming around.
The big three are huge ships that have taken some time to turn. But, I beleive they are on a profound direction change.
Like Sam Houston said a long, long time ago:
"But when they begin to move in a given direction, they move with the steady momentum and perserverance of a mighty avalanche".

Yes, GM and Ford's safety and reliability are getting better. The Enclave is a seriously strong contender for someone looking for an SUV at its price segment. Nice interior, decent exterior styling, and plenty of features.

What I am saying isn't opinion, its fact.

You think the Pilot is better for no other reason than the fact that its a Honda which supposedly means that it has "proven realiability". Then I will say that Buick tied Lexus for first place in that JD Power study (BEATING Hondacura) and you'll conjure up the same old conspiracy theory that GM pays JD Power for that. Then LLN (as well as every other auto news site on the internet) reports that the Enclave is in HUGE demand and there is another conspiracy theory.

So what is your proof? "Proven reliability" (which you haven't actually PROVEN with EVIDENCE) and conspiracy theories. Oh wow, you win. Yea, right. So I am the one who believes anything I'm told? Sorry, but I think your "facts" require more faith since they have NO concrete facts.

lol @ the Enclave being better at anything than the Pilot.
Of course if you are basing it on your patriotic opinion then thats fine but there is nothing that the Enclave has on the Pilot Certainly not a build quality resale and reliability
Its in higher demand ?? Where is a Buick in higher demand then an Acura or Honda ?? At the retirement home ? Please stop This article is paid for by GM. They picked the right website too, you people will believe anything.
The Acura is pricey but what SUV CUV isn't? If I couldnt afford the MDX I would go with the Veracruz. At least when Hyundai came into the US they gave a 100k warranty, GM has to do it now that they are backed into a corner

Oh you do have company lucklaster. I just saw an Enclave on the road for the first time the other day, and I was so impressed by it, I almost followed it so I can get a better look at it. At one intersection, I was supposed to go straight but I went into the 'right only' lane after the it...

Comparing the Pilot to the Enclave is absurd. Its like comparing the Sebring to the Accord. In both cases, the latter is obviously better.

The past few weeks I've made it a hobby to make myself look at the other big name CUVs/SUVs (yeah, that's right) and this is my real opinion-
the Enclave is the freshest, most elegant vehicle in that genre.
I don't care who the other makers are or what their price or horse power or cup holders are like.
I am not impressed.
There is something about these Lamdas and very specifically about this Buick that gets me feeling it down inside when I see one in traffic. And I think I must have company.

By the way... A Pilot??? I drove the Pilot! While it made me feel good and is a great SUV I did not feel it was even in the same class as the Enclave... I did love the MDX. Liked it even more then the Lexus but I like the styling, interior room, refinment, equipment value for the money more then what I would have gotten over at Acura. No doubt we cold get a better deal over at Acura. They are discounting prices on the MDX. It will be a while before you can get a good deal on an Enclave. It's simply better and in higher demand at this moment then anything else that Honda or Lexus have.

The only fool in these forums is the Jack Ass that refuses to even consider a GM product. Sometimes you need to step back and give credit where credit is due. quite frankly, I found the Maxima to be a bit cramped and full of cheap plastic while the Accord build quality was second to none but drives like a tin can. At least that was my impression after test driving the Lucerne CXS. Before that I was content on buying the same old boring generic Japanese built vehicles that Consumer Reports has been telling me are the best in the world. I assure you, if either of my GM products start to give me problems (not like I never had problems with any Japanese cars I ever owned) I won't ever buy one again. So far So good and I expect it to stay that way...

How does that make me a fool?

So Motor Trend is your new car-buying authority 1115? Because in that case, there are several American cars that you would choose if you go based on comparos like the Veracruz vs Lexus.
