Hyundai has taken a hit on the chin a couple of times over name infringement lawsuits. One which I thought was ridiculous was with Ford over the name “Pony” resulting in the “Excel” name being used in the North American market. The other that comes to mind was the threat of a lawsuit by Lotus over the name “Elantra” which is too close to Lotus’ “Elan” and the reason why the vehicles were called “Lantra” in Europe.

If turnabout is fair play, Hyundai should sue the pants of GM over the Buick “Excelle”!!!

The Excelle will not be called the Regal here in the states. Perhaps the Century would be more appropriate? Century sold millions of vehicles over the years. BUT I do not think it will be called the Century either.

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that this is coming to North America.. after all, it will be expected to fill the same dealership space and pricing niche being vacated by the Pontiac G3, G5, G6, Vibe and current LaCrosse (with its $4000 cash incentives). I’d also be willing to bet it will pick up the Regal name for NA.

Johnny, be reasonable: folks who buy those vehicles don’t remember their own names, much less car names no matter what their name or car name is. They barely remember to take off pants before they take a piss.Buick could be called :Model 79, Model 80, Model 82, Model I’m fallen and can get up.

RaineMan, it’s a combination of that and the names. It isn’t so much much what they call their new models it is that with few exceptions no name is ever carried over from one model to the next. How are people supposed to ask about a new car when they have no idea what it’s called?

Enough already I’m really getting sick of all the LLN and all the other reporters reporting Oh! here’s the “new” Buick for china and it’s possibly come to US. Oh! here is the Ford it will be sold in Europe and it rumored to come to the US. Oh! here is the here’s the Chevy for the Moon and insiders sources says it might make it the US shores Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!! just report the facts guys!!!!. Either we’re getting it or not. enough Of the BS because we never get those great cars and if and when we do, and have to wait ten years to get one, we get a watered down version of the real thing. then wonder why it’s doesn’t sell here. Geeeee I wonder why!

Hey KarLoveBoy88, first of all its Acadia and Lucerne. How are these names any different then names used by other companies? I dont get it. When compared to names other companies use they all seem relatively normal. As for the styling, you must have a very odd sense of design. Very strange.

Borat – Barney Frank does the rethinking, or back talking, so in his mind he’ll make the decision.

This car will be here, 100% positive. They said they were bringing over a Buick badges Delta II and here one is – you do the math. I still wish it was Buick and not Oldsmobile (in 2004) or Pontiac that got the ax. They give off that BS that it’s because Buicks are so popular in China – well, they rebadge EVERYTHING else, why couldn’t they rebadge these as Oldsmobile’s or Pontiac’s here?

This has got to be the stupidest thing I’ve seen GM do or a promising sign. Everyone knows Buicks are known for being comfy cars for your butt, and having that and a stiff sporty suspension are not mutually exclusive.

Nobody buys Buicks for sport.

Of course, since this is a rebadged Opel Astra, it will go well around the track. Putting a Buick design on it is just stupid.

GM and their new car names. They really need a chief name giver in the design department. Names like the Arcadia, Lucurne, Lacrosse, Cruze, Enclave, Excelle, Volt,these are horrible. And the designs are just as horrible. All except the new Lacrosse
