The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, has announced the latest crop of recipients of the top honors for safety from the agency, and among them was the Buick Verano.
Now one of a total of 115 winners of Top Safety Pick honors for 2012, the Verano joins elite company known for being some of the safest vehicle on the road.
“GM set a goal that every new product would be designed to meet or exceed the third-party metrics that IIHS and others use to communicate crash worthiness to consumers,†said Gay Kent, GM executive director of Vehicle Safety. “We are now seeing the results from that commitment,” referring to the crowning of the Verano as a Top Safety Pick.
General Motors now has a total of 14 IIHS Top Safety Picks, although the Verano is the only model not be a carryover from 2011.
With an increase in the standards of the IIHS and NHTSA tests, cars that once were given an easy pass are not failing, make this feat that much more impressive on behalf of Buick.
