Am I really a ****ing Idiot DeansterTJ? First off I was kidding about the Ford Duratec in an Audi! You people take things too seriously on this site. Secondly Let’s see the Noble M1 used a twin turbo Ford Duratec and it’s one crazy fast car. It costs in the high 90k to 100k and it does 0-60 in low 3’s, weighs next to nothing and is a very capable track car. And then there was the post about the Koensigg CCXR that ok we found out has a new powerplant but orginally also had a Ford engine sourced architecture. Which didn’t pull a new record? So before you call me a ****ing Idiot why don’t you first think about the comment and then realize that. At least those cars haven’t been burnt crisp to the ground. ****smooch.

Oh your talking about Heffner Performance A4. Yeah he twin turbo’d a Gallardo, and a Ford GT. They are both sick and crazy fast. I doubt he has the same problems Audi does. But like Sharif said if Audi wants a good and powerful engine why don’t they source their engines from GM, or better yet throw in a Ford Duratec??? At least that ford engine won’t catch fire!

Just do an engine swap for the very awesome upcoming ZR-1 engine. Of course their might be some tinkering around involved in the process but it would be all good once it’s completed.

C6; I’m curious as to why you say the R8 doesn’t have enough horsepower. Is 420p just not enough? I think it’s ridiculous these days how all people complain about is that bla bla car doesn’t have enough horses or doesn’t have AWD or w/e. Point of fact being that a car isn’t all about performance specs; I would take the Audi over a C6 or a similar car just because I think it looks way cooler. I mean ya I may not beat all the other cars in its price point on a track but really who gives a **** lol. 420 is enough horses to do just about anything in style and even if other cars in the price point have more, there are many aspects to Audi that they lack.

As for the R8, I think it’s awesome that Audi is even thinking about adding more power as the current one just doesn’t have enough.

WTF is wrong with Audi that they can’t get adequate cooling to their R8 engine compartment despite the HUGE contrasting carbon-fiber wings that I assume are designed to do just that? Are they even functional, or just another design statement? And WTF wouldn’t they utilize the Lamborghini Gallardo V10, since they already know it fits and doesn’t always burn to a crisp? So much for form follows function, and no design for design’s sake…

Audi is really Volkswagen. I don’t consider Audi a separate company. It’s a wholly-owned subsidiary of VW, but functions like a luxury division of VW.

What about thermometer in the engine compartment? Do you really need to burned 3 cars to learn from mistakes (fire). It is just does not sound right: those mules were littered with censors; how the hell they missed 3 fires? Got to be more then that to burn that baby to a crisp. Something got to blow up not to be notices.

I can’t imagine with all their engineering talent they can’t figure out a way to use twin turbos in that car without it catching fire. Heat management isn’t THAT big of an obstacle these days.

Must be more to the story that VW doesn’t want to disclose.

It doesn’t matter if it has 2 or 4 turbos. It could be the size of the turbos. It could be the location of the turbos/manifolds. It could be the overall design of the car preventing sufficient cooling to vital parts of the drivetrain.
