Of course you will concede, you will have no choice once the new CTS-Super V hits the GT tracks and the street. It will be much cheaper than the M5 and most likely beat it 0-60, and around the track. Oh, and don’t forget that primal scream of the LS7 as it buzzes right past a line of BMWs deserately trying to accelerate. Who needs to spend $100+ on a German auto that only does well in corners… I would rather go for the whole package (0-60, high 11 second 1/4 mile beast)and for a cost that shouldn’t top $80k.

You can say all you want about a “outdated” look, but if you haven’t noticed that new design helped revive Cad’s image and vastly improve sales. It appears that the majority of the performance purchasing population would dissagree with you. I can’t wait to see what this will do to the sales of the M5 when it hits the show floors.

Its a good idea, I like the performance of the CTS-V, but the interior sucks compared to an M car, if they make the interior feel not so cheap then I would buy one….maybe.

Perfectly said Emril! All they want to do is have a fancy Euro name on it to “CONVEY a sophisticated “image.” That is the Quote of the Year as it describes the American car manufacturers to a tee. It says “we cant afford to compete because our unionized labor is too expensive so we have to ‘pretend’ instead and we even realize AND acknowledge this fact.”

Besides the fact that its more boxy than a volvo and now looks dated, for some crazy reason, they still think all they have to do is boost the hp and give it a high-end Euro-name and suddenly its a competitor to the new M. What they’re really saying is “we can now market/advertise the car as having European pedigree since marketing is more important to us than ACTUAL SUBSTANCE” What a joke! WE, the people who read LLN etc., are their target market for such a car yet they appear to continually insult our intelligence over and over again.

How about instead of “turning to a European tuning house for the project because it conveys a more sophisticated image,” you turn there because its actually better. Quit spending money pretending to be sophisticated. Spend money on actual sophistication. You’re getting much better, Cadillac, but its that difference thats keeping you from where you want to be– on par with Benz, BMW, Audi, etc. People can tell when you’re faking it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m really diggin’ the new Caddy, but they certainly could kick it up another notch. Bam!

I am also a fan of the Speed GT series. The racing caddys are SO badass.

The current V is up there with the M series, not better but it’s up there. I would love to see an LS7 V series car.

And lots of people watch the Speed GT series, and the CTS’s are quite good, they are beating cars even with extra weight in them.

They can add HP but it will never match the M5 overall, even in terms of cache alone. How about dropping that dough into a decent small car?

Get over it. NOBODY cares if you race in some unwatched race series. Three pictures a year in the back pages of AutoWeek does not a brand make.

Hell, even the Euros have overplayed the ‘tuner’ crapus. Sure, fleece the posers while you’re able, but don’t plan your future on it.
