Cadillac hopes its new XTS luxury sedan will lure sales away from established models like the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, even though Cadillac isn’t necessarily on the average German luxury car buyer’s radar.

How does Cadillac propose to land the XTS on the shopping lists of more premium car customers? Expose them to the sedan through livery services.

“A lot of people will not consider Cadillac that buy Mercedes or BMW,” said Patrick Nally, marketing manager for the XTS. “They do not put us on their shopping list. There is an opportunity to get the right people in the vehicle who would not otherwise” be sitting in a Cadillac.

Nally added that he thinks the coddling interior of the XTS will make livery passengers take notice of the sedan, saying: “We will really impress people vis-a-vis the back seats of those cars.”

There will likely be plenty of demand for the XTS in the livery market, which is facing the demise of two staples this year: the Lincoln Town Car and Cadillac DTS.
