If they really want the CTS to compete with BMW then I think they need to have the convertible option along with the sedan, coupe, and wagon… I think the idea is still simmering, just moved to the back burner for now.

Even a fabric roof on this CTS coupe would dramatically change the shape.. so they are probably correct in nixing the idea.

Maybe Cadillac just realized the one shortcoming of their stubby fastback styling.. nowhere for the retractible hardtop to retract into!

I was just going to say the 2-seat vs. 4-seat thing, but I see that Jordan beat me to it. A 4+ seat convertible would be a good option.

an xlr has two seats; a cts convertible would have four or five. that’s why you’d bother with a cts convertible. it’s more like comparing an sl with a clk.

If they do make it a convertable it will be a coupe made into a convertable. Latley the Convertalbes have been made first with the body stiffer in design before the coups’versons like the Upcoming Lexus the BMW 3 series and 6 series the Volvo C70 convertable.

In my opinion CTS coupe has oversize butt and it is just difficult to spawn with it.

I think they’re just trying to cover the XLR’s ass. A CTS drop top would crush sales of the XLR, not that there’s that much to begin with.

XLR is priced twice as high as a CTS convertible would likely land. That’s like comparing a M-B SLK with an SL.

Why bother with a CTS convertible? If you want a drop-top caddy just get the XLR.

Good call, dont whoreout every good thing. XLR is good enough.
