I think this car is going to have to be seen in the flesh to be appreciated. I’m really anxious to see this in person. If you can’t appreciate the V-series Cadillacs your not a true car enthusiast.

The biggest problem with Cadillac is that is, and remains, a “near-luxury” brand. It ceased being a luxury brand after the fifties and sixties. GM throws a big motor into a model, and little else, to attract attention.

Autopilot your remarks are all kind of strange. There are several cars on your list there that I would easily choose a CTS-V over in a heartbeat. I mean the challenger, mustang, a5, Benz coupes? What areas are they going to out do the V in? The camaro rocks but will get out handled, the mustang is ok but slow, and so on and so forth. You’re all over the board here- not all cars with 2 doors are in the same class.

I can’t wait to drive this new V, good luck to all keeping up with it!

Darkvictory, GM is 9th(out of 38) in 3 year dependability with 1.5 problems per vehicle. Lexus is at 1.3, Mercedes at 1.8, BMW at 1.7.

Data shows that Cadillac is better than its competitors in dependability. But of course .5 problems per car is not much difference.

BRAVO Cadillac. Caddy is laying down the law and on it’s own terms. Kudos to Caddy for completely remaking it’s image from ghetto / pimp / senior citizen car to hip, 30/40-something hipster car. This car is beautiful. The best part is that it looks like a Cadillac, not a copy of a BMW or Lexus. I love the continuity w/ the SRX. Right on!

fastback, coupe, whatever…….does anyone really care what its called, I mean if mercedes can call their 4door a coupe, …………..who complains about this 2 door being called a coupe??? Hateful, the cars dimensions arent big, and the cts is 5 series size, so this just competes with closer with an m3 then an m6 i would think, but thats only an opinion.

Autopilot – 80% of the cars you listed don’t even compete with the CTS-V Coupe. This new CTS-V Coupe is the best looking coupe in its price segment, by far.

I appreciate Cadillac’s effort and their heart is in the right place. They’re headed in the right direction in the quality department, their reputation is improving, and they have the right idea as far as their lineup plan goes.

That said, the CTS/CTS-V Coupe’s numbers are exciting and enticing but it is a serious design fail. Is it a fastback or a fatback? The proportions are almost entirely wrong, and it’s too tall and slab-sided especially the quarter-panels and from the rear. It’s obvious that it won’t age well at all, and it looks somewhat dated already. It takes true “art and science” to be able to design a car that transcends, and this just doesn’t do it.

Sure, the sales numbers will look promising at first, but they’ll quickly taper off markedly. It simply doesn’t have the world appeal that’s so very important. I can’t comprehend why anybody would buy a CTS/CTS-V Coupe over the Mustang GT, Shelby GT500, Camaro, Challenger, G37 Coupe, 350Z (not 370Z, that’s a disaster), 3-Series Coupe, M3 Coupe, A5 Coupe, S5 Coupe, upcoming C Class Coupe, E Class Coupe, Corvette, Corvette Z06, Jag XK, Jag XKR, 6-Series, M6, GT-R, 911, Viper, M-B CL, M-B SL, or a used NSX, AM Vantage, 911 Turbo, or Continental GT. These are just some of the cars this poor thing has to compete with either directly or indirectly, so if someone out there does comprehend it, please explain it to me.

Also, I’m keeping my fingers crossed, but If this car is an indication of what we can expect from the XTS, then that too will be a huge dissapoinment.
