Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon “likely”

Cadillac’s recently unveiled CTS Sport Wagon promises to provide buyers stylish good looks and sports sedan-like handling, all with the added utility of a wagon. But most enthusiasts aren’t concerned with any of that. For those with desktops of Audi’s RS6 Avant, there’s only one concern – will General Motors produce a V-Series version of the Sport Wagon.

We had a sneaking suspicion that Cadillac was working on a fire-breathing V-Series version of the CTS Sport Wagon, and Automotive News may have incidentally confirmed that suspicion.

Automotive News reports that a V-Series edition of the Sport Wagon is “likely”, although the timeline for such a product remains unclear.

Since the CTS Sport Wagon rides on the exact same platform as the CTS sedan, the hardware is already in place to make the V conversion. GM has already openly admitted that it wants to dethrone the BMW M5 as the world’s premier sports sedan with the CTS-V, so it would seem to make sense that GM would want to knock the Audi RS6 Avant from the top of the hill too.

Cadillac is already planning to launch the CTS Coupe and CTS-V Coupe together, so it’s quite possible that GM’s luxury brand is planning a surprise CTS-V Sport Wagon launch at one of the upcoming auto shows.

Something to compete with those AMG Wagons and Porsche’s Panamera for a fraction of the price… why not?

Since when did the M5 stand as “The world’s premier sports sedan.” Sorry but as cool as the M5 is I can think of a bunch of other sedans that are way better performers out of the box unless of course you are talking about straight line racing but if you are then you are not really talking about racing at all then. Although I can imagine they hand the title to the M5 because it has BMW on the back with leather inside that has M\\ stitched on it and cup holders that come out of your ass.

My usual poison is Carling Black Label Supreme made my Molson. At 8% it does not fall into the category of trainer beer. If you can down a couple 6 packs of these you’re the Michael Phelps of beer drinking.

Sounds like good beer but at the end of the day it’s still beer I can’t count on two hands how many people I know who would down that much and still be down to play some more beruit. But when you do that kinda thing every weekend its no surprise.

Please!!!! Not another american “nich” car that GM will loose money on due to lack of sales. That version should be available only for the european market since wagons are popular there. Nice car though:)

I have to agree with CarResearcher as this will be a niche vehicle since it arrives too late to be meaningful while other manufacturers are well established in this market.

#13. & #14.

you guys are idiots, the reason wagons don’t sell in Umerica is because no one offers them, you douchebags go out and get SUV’s thinking your badass, meanwhile they are useless and certainly are not used for off-roading.

Wagons > suvs

#13, perhaps GM should make another 10 minutely different crossovers? that’ll save them from bankruptcy /sarcasm

acura_el2000, dear idiot child, I have never owned nor will I ever own an SUV. Maybe if you took your hand off your joystick long enough to go out into the real world, versus yanking your pud to internet porn, you’d have something of value to post here.

Hopefully it holds its value better than the current models, although I doubt it. I have an ‘04 V. $53,500 new and already books for less than half its value. :( I’d love to see Cadillac build a car that doesn’t sink in value faster than the Titanic. ;)

^^^ Or faster than a Led Zeppelin. You know that’s how they got their name right? Some douch told them they would fall faster than a Lead Zeppelin so that’s what they named their band after. Man, they kick @$$ too.

The only problem I see with this is that it is really ruining the value of the ZR-1 as a halo car. If you can get the same motor in another vehicle that will be produced on a much larger scale. I guess the 505hp from the Z06 wasn’t enough, they had to do straight for big-daddy.

Now I’m waiting for Infiniti to put the GTR powertrane into an M. Who said the hp wars were over?

not so sure itll best an RS6… it wont be beating its power and torque ratings, maybe they should just stick to the M5 Touring as a benchmark.
