Cadillac launches “Life. Liberty. And the Pursuit.”

07/27/2006, 3:10 PM

By admin

General Motors has officially launched its “Life. Liberty. And the Pursuit.” marketing campaign for its Cadillac brand. First identified by Leftlane in April, the campaign aims to put the brand in touch with a younger demographic. A spokesperson told Automotive News many younger consumers knew about Cadillac’s Escalade, but were unfamiliar with other models. This campaign hopes to change that, as well as the brand’s overall perception. Some images after the jump…

i think they are marketing this to the wrong ppl! i cant remember ever seeing someone under the age of 35 drive a caddy. if they try to get the younger crowd i think the image of Caddilac is going to be tarnished and the normal buyers, 40+ crowd, will go to the audi/BMW/Benz dealer.

FWD + V8 = pointless.
Luxury + SUV = Pointless.
The only interesting car that Cadillac builds is the CTS-V. Otherwise, the rest of their vehicles are totally pointless and are not at the top of any of their classes.

Very classy, elegant and beautifully photographed ads. Cadillacs are fantastic luxury cars and the brand has really come along way in the last few years so a fresh new campaign is a great idea. And of course the first three posts here are negative with the obligatory Japanese and German cars are better dreck. Typical of someone that speaks from emotion and not fact. I always find it remarkable how people post when the despise something as if they have to show their hate to the rest of the world. Sorry for getting on my soap box. Great job Cadillac.

Give it up Cadillac. Only blue hairs without a clue want to drive your pieces of crap. One of my senior citizen relatives bought a new Cadillac and eventually sold it for a Mercedes cause they were sick and tired of having to constantly take it to the dealer for a barage of warranty repairs – including a completely brand new engine after only 10k miles! Cadillac should do the same thing Oldsmobile did and just go away…

This is a winning campaign that will prove the naysayers wrong. Caddy is the Standard of the World, everything else is garbage. A year from now, all the MB, BMW, Lexus cars are going to be collecting dust while Caddy continues their onslaught of top notch vehicles that offer quality, performance and luxury that is second to nobody.

And right behind Caddy will be Buick to take the current reigns once Caddy moves up to battle RollsRoyce, Bentley, Maserati and other high end cars. They’ll be unbeatable

Dude, if you think Caddy can go up against RR, Bentley and Maserati you have some serious problems. Get off the pipe, and get some help.

Go look at the interior of an Audi and then the interior of a Caddy and you will see just how crappy and cheaply made / felling a Caddy interior is.

how about the stunning similarity to the recent/current jaguar campaign? is that just me? i feel that both are trying to shift away from a product-based focus and more to the appeal of an overarching idea/ideal.

“Dude, if you think Caddy can go up against RR, Bentley and Maserati you have some serious problems.”

Actually, I would venture to say that the Cadillac Sixteen concept could compete with RR, Bentley AND Maybach if they ever made it (which I know they wont). I know that Caddy isn’t up to par with the European brands right now, but I think that when GM finishes turning itself around, that will change. They’ve come a LOOOOOOONG way recently, and I bet in a few years they’ll be much closer to the Europeans. Maybe one day they’ll once again build an ultimate luxury vehicle like the Sixteen. Its possible….

There isn’t a market for a $200,000 Caddy…just look at the XLR and see how poorly and slowly its selling. If Caddy can’t compete with the SL, how on earth do you think it will compete with Bentley?

Anyway man just stop with the bull crap because we are actuallay trying to have decent conversations about cars here.

Well, because the XLR kinda sucks. The Sixteen doesn’t. Its pretty amazing, inside and out. What do you not like about the Sixteen? I can think of a lot I don’t like about the XLR.

Dumb campaign, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit”

Pursuit of what? Wire wheels, Landau roofs and curb feelers are the pursuit of Grampa Charlie’s retirment dollars, that’s about it.

Or how about the “Pursuit” of a more youthful image? Like under 65?

Seriously, this is not a youthful tagline

Hyundai ?? come on Hyundai, besides the 80,s killing the great cars of the usa off they were great cars and very sought after it is only a matter of time before they are back were they wore. However I dont think that Cadilac is trying to compete with The Greman higher end cars. 70$ plus to much. THey really just want to build a american luxury car. KNow lets get it right BMW= Sport, Benz=Sport Luxury/ High end Luxury just differnt they are not better or worse exept benz horrible E-class

“Life, Liberty and the Pursuit”…This is a tagline that some copywriter had to come up with, just before deadline…And a crappy slogan it is…Caddy’s are not ****, but they’ll never compare with e.g. RR’s or Maseratis or what have you. And they shouldn’t. They’re Cadillacs and should try to be the best Cadillacs in the world. And yes: Easy on the lense flares…Looks so encredibly photoshop!

Oh yeah, I think the len flares on the ads could be toned down, but the ads do showcase luxury and prestige in sort of a Gucci,Luis Vutton ad type of flavor. The emotion is well executed, but where are the cars? I would rather them keep the emotion and flavor of the ad, even keep the slogan, but incorporate more of a vision for the cars. The Art Director of the Ad agency need a swift kick in the ass for not evaluating the whole concept and letting his creatives over look the beauty of cars.

Funny how most people post their bias without putting their brains into gear.
If I recall Correctly, XLR beat most other vehicles in its class in performance, but fell short in interior materials when it debuted. That said XLR V has interior materials as good as Maybach. Meanwhile, since there are soo few XLR V’s on the road, would you rather drive an SL or an XLR? The XLR is better quality, studies (Scientific not consumer Report) support the essertion

Cadillac is not a Benz yet in some peoples minds. But, If I was ever to spend US$50,000.00 on a car, I would put emotions aside, and test drive as many cars as I can before I give my money. That is what Warren Buffet did, and he got a DTS earlier this year. That is money well spent.

Go ahead, pay full price for your Lexus GS, or Audi A6, spend your money, contribute to the national trade deficit, without taking a few minutes to call a Cadillac Dealer, who would happily bring an STS for you to Test drive…

You will be suprised what car u end up with, if you comparison shop..

I suprised myself by getting a Cobalt instead of a Civic or Corolla.. For the Price, I could not justify spending that much more money. Plus… Ford lost becouse, I know it has true quality problems.

dude youve got it all wrong man!! Ive sat in an XLR before in the Detroit auto show and let me tell you its got some crappy material in the interior. The Audi A4 which costs a lot less had by far nicer quality of leather than the XLR. I was pretty surprised at finding out that people actually buy XLR’s after i sat in one.

I think Caddy needs to ditch the wreath and just have the crest surrounded by a black circle.
I also think they should ditch the script and go for a more modern font.

Other than that, i see at least 2 CTS’ every day and they are always driven by a 30 something guy.
The next CTS will take Cadillac to the next level.
